After filming was completed, Stanley Kubrick ordered the sets and models from 2001 destroyed so nobody could make a sequel to it. They made one anyway, 16 years later.

Jackie Chan's films Armour of God and Armour of God 2: Operation Condor were released in reverse order in North America. Armour of God 2: Operation Condor was released as Operation Condor, and then Armour of God was released as Operation Condor 2: The Amour of the Gods.

So, yeah, it's like this:

Armour of God = Operation Condor 2: The Amour of the Gods
Armour of God 2: Operation Condor = Operation Condor



This also happened with the Chuck Norris films Missing in Action and Missing in Action 2: The Beginning. The latter was made first, but the producers felt that the sequel was more exciting and released it first instead.
