A vacation would be a nice change of pace.

Well, I haven't had a vacation in years, but I don't think I will be able to take one for at least a few more months.

No bed and no vacation in years. I really hope things improve for you. :(

I'll let you win.

Weevil take that into account, but cannot offer any guarantees.

Thank you. Also, I was wrong about the sleeping in the hall thing going on for a few weeks, it's been a couple months actually at this point.

I told my mom what is going on 6 days ago and we have been chatting each day since. I wasn't ready to tell her yet, but she told me that her SO of over 15 years is leaving her for another woman and that he had been cheating with this other woman for a year. He didn't even want to leave is the even more twisted part, he wanted both women and refused to break off the affair and instead decided to move out of the house that my mom and him bought together.

She has extended an open invitation for me to move in with her, either until I figure out what I want to do next or however long. I may well do that, at least temporary, if things can't be fixed with my marriage. I worry about her living alone as she hasn't lived alone since grad school 40 years ago and as she points out herself, her vision was far better then. In fact, her vision is one of my main concerns with her living alone as she is blind.

I'm really sorry with what happened to your Mother.

I wouldn't hesitate on the offer to sleep on a bed. You need to think about your health. I can't really give much advice beyond this because I'm clueless!

I am going to stick out the winter and try to fix things, but if that doesn't work, I think I will take her up on the offer. I know she could use the company and we haven't seen each other since the fall of 2019. She has emphasized that there is plenty of room at her empty house.

She also sent a check to help, but the bank put a "five day" hold on the check even though I just got another check from her that cleared fine like two months ago. They then informed me that they don't count weekends, so that would mean a week long delay and it would be ready the following Friday. Then they corrected themselves that they aren't counting the day I deposited it, so it will clear the monday after next.... So I had to go to a pawn shop to get money for critical supplies yesterday and now I am probably going to have to do that again soon because we are almost out of some other critical supplies and cannot wait till the check clears. They wouldn't even clear $50-100 for me.

Ditto what she said. Maybe it would be helpful for both you and your mother if you moved back in? I'm even more clueless regarding problems like this. I hope things work out for you both.

I mean, it isn't quite moving back in as I never lived there. She moved at the same time I moved. I have some childhood stuff there, but I never even spent the night there. It is the same neighborhood though and only a couple blocks away from where my childhood home used to be.

Thankfully, I think having moved away for 4 years at this point, I think the relationship dynamic would be different and in a good way, especially since her now Ex wouldn't be there (I never liked him).
