Zeta Reticuli is a binary star, located some 39 lightyears from Earth. The stars are about 3700 AU apart, meaning that it is possible for there to be one or more planets that orbit one of the stars, but thus far the appropriate perturbations in the orbits of the stars have not yet been observed. There have been tentative observations of an exo-Kuiper Belt around Zeta Reticuli 2, at around 100 AU from the star.

Zeta Reticuli has been selected in popular legend as the home of the supposed alien "Greys"; however, this seems rather unlikely, as spectrographic analysis indicates the stars are only about 2 billion years old (by way of comparison, our Sun is around 5 billion).

Zeta, a Greek letter present in many names of stars.

Edit: Alpha Centauri. A primarily binary star system which may have Proxima Centauri as a third star in orbit of it.
