Wraith blinked as the creature stepped out. It was true; she was caught off gaurd.

"Hi," she said faintly. "If you don't mind, what exactly are you?" Then she remembered Mr. Oak's question. She shook her head and shifted her gaze. "You're right. We need to get moving. Which way?"

Roland was still a little surprised that lump of C4 could do so much.

There was a hole large enough for a jeep to get in the house without trouble.

Roland knew he needed to get to Mythra and fast - something was about to have it's fun with her.

With that monster Mr.Oak about....

He sprinted like a wolf, even Thanatos had trouble keeping pace.

But then he noticed something....

Small lumps that looked like hands started to come out of the woodwork.

They had razor sharp fingers that looked intent on destroying the necromancer/gunslinger.

He drew twin revolvers and started shooting at the ones that got close as he ran.

In seconds his guns were dry.

He quickly put them back in their holsters and drew the other pair.

He finally spotted the right hall in this death maze and bolted.

Suddenly the hands retreated and Roland could finally stop running.

He felt like he'd die from exhaustion.

But pressed on like a true Gunslinger.

Soon he came to an old, moldy staircase.

It made a strange echoing Kalink as walked.

Eventually he reached an old wooden door with heavy, rusty lock.

"Mythra! Can you hear me?!"

"Down to the basement. White Pyramid, lead the way, please. To the location Red Pyramid pinpointed."

As the creature lumbered off, and Mr Oak began to follow it, he looked at Wraith and smiled.

"I'm not sure I can tell you what I am now, but I was...human. And, with some exceptions, I consider myself still to be so."

BOOM!! !

Mr Oak frowned as the house shook and plaster came down.

"I think that was the Gunslinger. My, my, my, and here I thought they were subtle. On a place like this, using explosives to gain ingress is like ripping a scab open on a tiger..."

((Note, whole sentences in italics are usually Oak communicating with the creatures. If he is in their vicinity, he merely speaks, but in another tongue.))

By now, Mythra was shivering violently and wishing that she had, for once, used some human common sense and bought her outer robe with her. She was freezing, and her teeth were beginning to chatter. She had an uneasy sense of being watched had done for some time...surely nothing else was going to happen now? Had she not already lived out one nightmare...she could not recall any others.

But, she could not erase this feeling that something was about to occur that she would not like. Closing her eyes briefly, a hot tear rolled down her face as she wrapped her arms about herself and sunk to the floor, coming to rest leaning against one of the damp walls. She was getting tired of standing up in here. She now felt as if she was the only person in this place...and Roland, Wraith and that strange man, Oak, seemed like some kind of illusion...maybe she had dreamt this whole thing? Maybe she wasn't even really awake now?

Suddenly, a shuffling noise pulled up her attention...and she found herself, in spite of efforts not to, looking up. What she saw was far worse than the Tormentor. It was a woman, not unlike herself, but very aged, and deformed in features, riddled with some sort of disease, her boney hands clenching and unclenching as she moved closer. Her heart could be seen beating, even through her clothing...this strange flapping of the material over her chest. Mythra started murmering to herself,

'No, no, no, oh no', as she shuffled back along the floor, eyes becoming slightly wild as she struggled to cope with this sight. Was it really there? She couldn't even tell anymore, but it looked real enough. The woman continued to shuffle ever closer, the stiff fabric of her skirt rustling with each step.

Mythra threw her hands over her face and shouted out, 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!'

"s**t! I'm kicking this damn door down!"

With that Roland delivered a powerful kick to the door that shattered it into a million bits.

Then he drew a revolver faster then human eye could see and ran in expecting heavy combat.

But instead he saw Mythra on the floor in tears.

"What the hell is wrong?! There's nothing in here but some weapons!"

But Mythra remained totally oblivious to the entry of Rolan and to any other sounds beyond what she was hearing inside her own head. The woman was now so close, she could have touched her had she dared to try.

Close up, she looked even worse, with pieces of skin hanging off her gaunt face, a malformed nose and bulbous, severely bloodshot eyes. A hand reached out to touch her, the fingertips missing, and she started to whimper, trying to shuffle further back into the wall, which of course blocked her path.

'GO AWAY!', she shouted, eyes staring at the woman, but there was no reaction at all, not even a blink. The cold had increased and she could barely feel her hands as she got onto her hands and knees and began to crawl away from this ghastly figure.

"The house, it's gloating!"

Quatermass looked at Wraith and pulled her along as the huge Red Pyramid Head, showing an amazing turn of speed, began to run, althought that meant dragging its sword at higher speed and destroying parts of the floor....

"Your friend is definitely in danger, and so is Roland!! !"

Mythra managed to drag herself across to the other side of the dungeon and was battling to calm herself down, when a hand touched her shoulder... it felt real...and cold...and it hurt her skin, as if coated in acid. Sucking in her breath, and trying not to scream, she turned her head and saw some strange thing.... not fully human at all, it had a black hair covered face for a start, and clawed feet, from her quick assesment...and it's features...they were almost demonic in appearance. The atmosphere had become distinctly repulsive and evil, if such a thing existed, and she found herself panicking. Where was everyone, why had no-one come to let her out of here?

Another hand pushed on her back and she let out a scream.

(((Here I am. Sorry, trying to do 12,000 things at once today.)))

Wraith ran behind Mr. Oak, and for the first time, she began to feel truly afraid. This house was obviously bent on destroying them, and if something could hurt Roland - she hadn't thought that was possible - then it was far more powerful that she had thought.

The house was opening before them, carnivorous hallways streching on each side. Each path had a different danger. Rushing past them, Wraith could hear odd noises: whispers and murmurs, even a scream once. There were very few windows, and all were barred. Dust and dark obscured her vision. Mr. Oak seemed to know where he was going, and for that she was grateful. His gaurd was running along as well, destroying the floor, but each mark burned only briefly, then fit back together again, pefect. They would have trouble finding their way out.

They were going too slow. She could barely feel life around here; wherever Mythra and Roland were, it was far away.

Unbidden, the image of trying to run to them from the garden flashed through her mind. The house had seemed to strech then too. What if the house had been responsible that? She had assumed it was panic and the odd experince that had slowed her down, but if the house had been trying to keep them apart... She swore with the sudden realization. They might be going the right way, but the house was certainly slowing them down.

Last time she had flown, and that had worked, but she had had a lot more room to navigate. Although this house was old, the ceilings were fairly low, and the walls were tight. She might be able to maneuver, but it would be a tight fit. It would be risky.

What if the house only affects what it can touch? she thought suddenly. That's why the house didn't seem so huge when I flew last time... It couldn't reach me. Of course, we're inside the house now, so that might change. If the air in here is part of the house... But it's worth a shot.

Wraith took a few quicker steps, then jumped and drew her legs up. For a moment she thought she was going to fall; the house seemed desperate not to let anyone gain an advantage. It was a struggle, but then her wings grabbed onto some air, and she able to regain her balance. The house shimmered and suddenly she felt lightheaded. Not lightheaded enough, however, that she would stop.

She glanced down at Mr. Oak and his guard. She couldn't carry both of them; they were too heavy. She wasn't sure if she could carry his gaurd under normal circumstances anyway. That left only one choice.

She caught Mr. Oak by the arm and pulled him up, trying to be gentle. She had expected him to be heavier - Doesn't he eat? - and overcompensated for the new weight. As a result, she hit the ceiling with her head. Her vision shimmered again, and then she was no longer touching it. For a moment she was certain that she was going to drop him; the lightheaded feeling was much stronger this time.

"Don't struggle this time, or your arm is going to break again," she warned him. "I have no idea where we're going, but I know what this place is doing, so this is the only way. You're going to have to guide me though."

"Fine. White Pyramid, continue the search for the anomaly with the others. Down here, and then turn left!"

It was an unusual experience, being flown down a corridor in a homicidal house by an 'angel', but Mr Oak savoured the novelty. Suddenly, the screams of Mythra echoed up from a staircase...

"Down there!! ! I think Roland's with her, but....oh stercus, the house is pulling her mind inside out!! !"

"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG MYTHRA!? I DON'T SEE A DAMN THING!"

A Look of utter confusion crossed Roland's face.

But then heard something like a laugh - it was high and female.

And suddenly out of the shadows came a woman in a black cassock with a hood over her face.

"Never though I'd see you here Roland. Did you miss me?"

Roland nearly dropped his gun on hearing that voice - he knew even though this latest body was female it was the same person - Walter O'Dim.

"Now, with your little female friend busy in her nightmare I've come to bring you a message."

With that woman pulled back her hood - the face was a striking and thin. It was framed by bright red hair and two eyes - one pale icy blue and the other ivy green stared out at him.

"The Queen is coming for you."

With that Walter redrew the hood around her head and starting towards a wall.

"Oh yeah, forgot to tell you, they call me Gabrielle nowadays."

With that she walked into a wall.

Then suddenly, Mythra stopped screaming.

The hand continued to burn, sinking through the thin material of her robe and the skin beneath. The agony was pure and unadulterated. She closed her eyes, and lifted her head towards the ceiling, trying to bite back further sound. If she was going to die, she was going to at least die nobly, and not like a whimpering coward. The hand left her back, and for a moment she thought that maybe whatever this being was had gone back to wherever it had come from, but it was not to be. She felt a pressure on the back of her head and then nothing more...everything went black.

"AH DAMNIT!"

Mythra always fainted at the most inopportune time.

"Can't you faint when nothings trying to kill us?!"

Roland heard a distant roar in the background and drew his guns.

"Oh this is gonna be bad......"

Just then he was sure he heard something like a female chuckling in the background.

Roland was hearing a steady clicking on the wood floors.

It drove him mad.

"Can't they just hurry up and get here?!"

Then he heard them roar again.

It sounded distinctly - feline.

Then he saw them as they slowly entered the room.

They were Sekhmetians - corpses forged into Tiger-like beings.

Though they had some design changes.

From their backs sprouted dangerous sharp spines at least 3 feet long.

"Thanatos, my boy were in for a big one."

With that Roland braced for battle.
