Jessie looks around in wonder, now she has a full tummy, and the cats past and present mingling together in the twilight. The lake sparkles mysteriously, as some of the cats from beyond the Rainbow Bridge return to their other home, fading from view. Jessie catches a glimpse of Juanny chasing after his beloved Yarrow, Sammy and Puddums and even Scaminy - most ancient of cats. What a truly magical place. Jessie for a moment forgets she is a princess and struck with awe at the ghostly companions. With a lump in her throat she approaches the waters edge and pushing aside a clump of bullrushes she finds a large stone with words engraved. She reads aloud:
"To all the cats I ever loved
Time is short, my furry friend, and shorter still for thee
A fleeting rub of love and comfort amidst life's fitful sea
Arriving in a flash of fur and toys and chasing games
The years mature your sleeping skills and sitting on my lap
Your purrs cheer and consolement bring
You own me
And then you're gone, your journeys done and here I am
Still
Left to ponder deeply on the gifts you gave,
The solace to my weary heart,
And mine own mortality
To treasure."
