How do you post a picture?
ah, yes.. i may be able to help

for posting a photograph that you have taken or an image from your computer...
tektek wrote:
...you can add images if you click on the small icon illustrated by the mountains and sun in the "post a reply" box top button bar, enter the image address (where it is hosted) in the provided text box.
you can use imgur
(click) or photobucket
(click) to host your image... i recommend photobucket, at least you will have easier control over the image with an account that you can login to - if you wish to delete it or add others it is a lot easier

if you do use photobucket, i also recommend that (for the sake of maintaining anonymity/security) you name your account randomly or creatively as your image file properties will reveal your account details via the hosted address (unavoidable) and you may prefer not to disclose real-life name information (i would recommend against it). naming images randomly (alphanumeric combinations instead of pic0001, pic0002 etc etc) and setting appropriate privacy controls in the photobucket settings will also contribute to better security.
apologies if i have provided an excess of detail (information that you already knew), i do not mean to come across as a know-it-all - as i can and do sometimes. (sorry)
if you have any other questions please ask away.
for posting an image using the image code provided by the website (where the image is located), or by right clicking the image and getting the image address details by looking at "properties"...

...if you trim down the "image code" below the picture in the lower dialogue box shown at the web address

and then add that via the image add button on the button bar in the WP reply window...

= maximum lol cat happy

.....
and if you click for properties (right click for windows, ctrl-click for Mac) of the
www.theonion.com image and get this

and it can also be added via the image add button

and a handy bit of advice...

...however, the original site that the image was linked from (
www.funnypart.com ) might/will restrict linking to other sites to minimise data load on itself. the image in my post will likely become a blank or place holder.
some sites will do this depending on their bandwidth limitation/budgeting, it is a pain - but a problem that can be overcome... there are other ways to make it work

. i am now using
www.imgur.com to host the image that you wanted to share

= win
if you go to
www.imgur.com and click the "image url" button and copy-paste the image address (as per below example) into the dialogue box,
www.imgur.com will re-host the image for you and give you a tidy new address to drop straight into the WP (or any) forum.

http://www.funnypart.com/pictures/FunnyPart-com-protecting_my_car.jpg
the new address where the image is re-hosted by
www.imgur.com is as below. also, if you put this new address straight into your address bar it will take you to the image.

http://imgur.com/efJoe.jpg
this is a good trick to remember, a lot of sites will restrict cross linking images to keep data demand/bandwidth down for themselves.
...
Meadow, if you have any other questions please ask away.
i hope that this helps you
