Their are so many intelligent individuals out their, but for some reason no one can explain - were do the missing SOCKS go to. It's almost too mysteries to explain, all most alien like, would some one else take our socks, but this is something that many of us have no idea about, we lose socks and never find again, so why do we not question, maybe because their is no answer!

add your sock stories here 8O

I have quite a few missing socks, but I've lost many other things into the ether.

I was sitting on my couch playing Nintendo DS, something distracted me and I looked away for a while (still sitting there). When my attention was returned to the DS, 3 minutes later, my stylus had disappeared. I looked everywhere for it, tore my entire room upside down over the next few days. It was nowhere. I found it a year later in a bag that had been sitting on a shelf for 3-4 years, it was just not possible for it to have been anywhere near me when I was playing DS that day. I have no idea how my stylus got in there, but I'm glad the ether gave it back to me because I'd been playing with one that didn't match my DS.

I lost something else into the ether, but it seems I've forgotten what it was...

Odd socks, odd topic! :P

On some top-loading washers, they can get sucked under the agitator while draining. Take out the retaining screw and remove the agitator and you might find a couple.

If I can't find a sock, it's probably stuck inside a sleeve or attached to some other garment by static electricity. Maddening! :x

One way to prevent lost socks is to put them in a mesh bag while laundering.

I'm doing laundry right now!

:D

When I drop something, especially a bouncy something, and can't find it, I find a similar object and try to replicate the event as best as I can, while watching carefully where it goes. This has served my very well in the past.

No matter--it will return as a "zombie" post someday.

Maybe our lost socks will too. "Zombie Socks"--coming soon to a washer near you! :)

Yah, that can work sometimes if you have "young" eyes, but at my age I just end up losing both "experimental" and "control" objects. Eventually I'll step on one or the other, however... :foot:

All world governments have deals with certain alien civilizations. This is a well documented fact. Because earth is so far behind the times, we only barely manage to survive. We do it through peace treaties. You see, some of the most powerful alien races have severe cotton addictions. Earth uses this to keep us alive. Because we can't know about this, the government uses a common phenomenon known as "electromagnetic anti-static quantum unambiguous junk." This is more commonly expressed as "where is my sock?" Dryers are designed to evoke this, and cause a ripple in time and space making large amounts of socks just appear millions of light years away, while guaranteeing earth's protection.

Talking about odd socks one morning when I was rushing I went to work with odd shoes on, both black but one a little higher than the other, as soon as I realized that's all I could think of all day and felt a need to continually over explain, bringing them more attention...... and going home on the underground I was sure everyone was looking at my odd shoes, I kept trying to hide one foot behind the other.

Shoe or sock wise wouldn't brother me if Idid now, was young at the time...

Do any of you intentionally wear odd socks, many seem to go through fazes of doing so or simply have no insecurities and do not care about... so why do we infact have to try so hard to find a matching pair 8O are any lonely socks looking for a match

i wear mismatched socks all the time, and holey socks also, as they tend to wear out in places where stitches would be uncomfortably prominent.

My sisters older son who is a rare genius, when in boarding school ( received a scholarship and my sister could not keep up with him, usually I do not agree with schooling away form home, but he was happy their, got bored all the time when was home and irritated by his younger brother and sister) anyway he was only allowed to wear the school colours sock wise, but he use to ask me to get him all sorts of usually bright socks and would wear, mix and match, they got use to him after a while.

I don't worry about missing socks anymore, since mostly I wear them mismatched.

Just like auntblabby and jamesongerbil, I don't notice whether or not socks get missing. I grab the first two from the drawer when in need for fresh socks and I find the random compositions of colour and pattern very attractive.

 My socks never match. I buy the same kind, but they're all different colors... so it doesn't make a difference, fit-wise.
