Orobates Pabsti was a 3 foot iguana/lizard sort of thing that lived 260 million years ago.

Scientists in japan used actual fossils of them to create a working robot that walks.

Delightful!

After all this time, he(she?) walks the Earth again!

:D

Marge Simpson’s hair was based on the wig worn by Elsa Lanchester in’Bride of Frankenstein’.

Christina of Sweden was a 17th-century monarch who ruled as a king. Born covered in hair, she had a cry so deep that everyone thought she was a boy. Happy to learn she was a girl, her father decreed she would have the education of a prince and made her his heir. She inherited the throne at the age of 6 and ruled for years as a blunt, unmarried, lady king who often disguised herself as a man for political and safety reasons.

Was this what Queen Christina was about, with Greta garbo cast as her?? They chose such a beautiful feminine looking lady to portray someone disguised as a man n who apparently looked n sounded like one? Typical Hollywood ‘based on history’ nonsense!!

in the early days of sound recording, the phonograph cutting lathe was powered by a falling 100# weight, as the electricity in those days was not steady enough to supply a non-fluctuating current which would have resulted in speed variations and warbly instruments/voices on the records.

The distinctive "ribbit" sound used for frogs in movies and TV is made by the Pacific tree frog.

In the Titanic movie, the story of the old couple who died together in bed was based on real people. Ida Straus gave up her spot on a lifeboat to stay with her husband of 41 years, Isidor. When he was offered a spot next to his wife, he refused to take it because there were still women and children aboard. They put their maid on the lifeboat instead, wrapped her in Ida’s fur coat, and were last seen sitting together on the boat deck.

Leonardo De Caprio’s mother was really, really mad that he was not nominated for an Oscar for that movie.

Lawn Chief and Snow Chief were brands sold at True Value hardware stores, they were manufactured by General Power Equipment Co. of Harvard IL, a division of Cotter & Co. the old parent company of True Value. General Power Equipment was sold to MTD Products in 1995. Less than 100 yards from the now non-existent address of General Power Equipment in Harvard IL is a present day True Value distribution center. The Chieftain brand was also made by General Power Equipment Co. but had no relation to True Value, being sold at Agway Farm and Garden stores. I own a Chieftain single stage snowblower and a Servess brand radiant space heater, both made by General Power Equipment Co.

before there were computer hackers, before the internet, there was such a thing as "phone phreaks" who hacked into telephone networks and made free long distance calls.
