I used to do a lot of historical minis, but only when it was hard to find people to play the more complex board games. Still, it was a bit of a kick. There are some minis systems that are approximately as complex as the best of the tactical board games, but most of the guys that did minis just weren't into that level of detail.

I used to play with Warhammer 40000 models but no one at my school played warhammer 40k and being 13 I didn't have much of an income so I couldn't purchase the codex's, paints, or models.

In terms of actual wargames (no fantasy, like D&D or Fantasy Warhammer) with miniatures (not chips/unit markers or punch-outs)

Warhammer 40,000
Axis & Allies (both the miniatures version and the out-of-box version)
Flames of War
Warmachine
Chainmail
Age of Battles
HAVOC
G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T.
Angriff! (1960s-era)
...These are off the top of my head.
