How good is your spelling? (probably a duplicate, but w/e)

Well...I just had a VERY humbling experience.

See, I took this test on the internet just for fun no less then 10 minutes ago, and it pretty much confirms that I'm an idiot, just like 70% of the NT population of America. (and I'm being VERY generous in my assumptions)

http://www.businesswriting.com/tests/co ... elled.html

out of the 27 words (2 of them duplicates, based of the British spelling of 2 previous words on the list), I only got 11, making my score a 41%...a big fat FAIL. So I figured since misery loves company, why not post this in the quizzes section of WP.net and see how many else fall short.

I guess...I'm not the smarty-pants I used to be when I was in school. :( :(

I got 100%. Spelling has always been a strong point of mine.

Wow, awesome job! I'm guessing you're probably still young and eager to learn; that's a noble quality, never lose it. Learning shouldn't have to stop at any age, if you ask me. ^_^

With so many Latinate words, knowing a Romance language helps a lot—especially knowing a dialect in which ce and ci are pronounced differently from se and si :)

Your score is: 23 points out of a possible 27
That is 85 % -- Very Good!

I'm actually disappointed in myself since I consider myself a writer. Oh well.

I thought I was a good speller because I typed for years but I got 70% (19 out of 27). Good thing I used the dictionary a lot.

If it makes you feel better I am a horrible speller and rely almost entirely on spell check. I got 7 out of 27 right, and I thought I was doing fairly well. Solid fail for me at 26 percent.

On the upside I am great at maths and I do well in the sciences. Calculus is a breeze if they had asked math questions I would have done great. I have never done well in spelling even though it was one of the subjects that I had to practice the most. The order of the letters just does not make it into my mind. I know this is a weakness and I know that I am unlikely to improve dramatically in it, so I have other people check over my work for spelling errors.

Just because you are a bad speller does not mean you are not intelligent. Spelling also does not decide who is autistic or not.

I would also liked to have seen a grammar test. I think I should do well on one.

26/27 or 96%.

I'm a Scrabble player and crosswords, anagrams and words in general are one of my chief interests and strong points.

May have been directed at me.

63% as i have a lot of trouble with different spelling rules. One area as in the test are words ending with -able, -ible, -ance, -ence for examples.

Ah, finally ^_^ I was beginning to worry if anyone would do as bad, or worse then me, to give me some consolation.

And you do have a point: just because I'm weak in one mental department doesn't mean I'm not smart. And as far as I know, I never implied that good or bad spelling determines if you have autism, but I could be wrong.

I too am strong with mathematics, but not to trigonometry or calculus levels. Algebra, on the other hand, I LOVED when I was in high school.

But anyways, thank you for making me feel better. *hugs*
