The generous, splendid, most benevolent being known as 'DeepHour' has restored my Dormouse!

I would send cases of champagne, caviar, and a Monty Python Comfy Chair, if I had any of them, so all I can do is

send profuse expressions of humble gratitude.

And maybe a Giant Weta, if I can find one in California.

Thank you, O Most Gracious One!

(Dormouse thanks you too.)

Thanks Sylkat, happy to have been of assistance. :D

If your dormouse ever goes missing again, I could lend you this avatar while we're looking for it:

I had to look up 'Weta'. Hope I never find one of those in my Weetabix.

DeepHour is a British wolf with a surreal username and avatar. We all love him and are grateful to him for restoring the famous dormouse.

Witty and creative guy. The thread title is fitting.

I actually thought he was a young kid, at first, because of that avatar.

Imagine my surprise when I found out he was a lot older.

It'll end up being your "Wetabix".

Why is everyone so obsessed with these nopes?

By "nopes" do you mean the weta? It's just something from previous conversations. We tend to revisit them every now and then. I dunno why. Also on the list of in-references are bone vodka and some kind of black soup – things that tend to make lasting impressions on people.

Have you ever seen the Australian huntsman spider?

Sure, they're pretty common here. Are Australian ones different from huntsmen spiders in other parts of the world?

One can always Google images of the Golden Orb Spider with a bird caught in his web........

Seriously, they trap and eat birds.

They are real, they are huge, they are carnivorous, and they do live in populated areas.

Well, that has ruined my whole morning.

This discussion reminds me for some reason of the 1967 Hammer film Quatermass And The Pit (released in the USA as Five Million Years To Earth). From the 1.15 mark to 1.25.

Golden orb weavers are really common here, too, but usually you only see them outdoors. The smaller ones you see everywhere in my city. And I had a couple of the giant ones in my backyard when I was growing up (this photo is close to the ones we had). Those spiders are indeed humongous, and I used to steer well clear of them whenever I saw them. I never saw them eat birds, though. That's kinda mind-boggling.

The only dangerous spiders we ever get here are those that hide in consignments of imported fruit, which make their way into supermarkets and, from there, sometimes into people's homes. I feel sorry for the spiders I find in my house, and if it's winter I let them stay, rather than throwing them out into the cold or the snow and ice.

It is a pretty good movie, I've watched it three or four times. Would probably have been even better if it'd been made by Hammer's greatest director, Terence Fisher, rather than Roy Ward Baker.

IMO Deephour has deep thought...
And that's not easy to get without natural wisdom..
