Didn't have one until David Tennant came along, but I know now that my firm second favourite is Sylvester McCoy, followed by a tied Patrick Troughton and Tom Baker.

I am 24, I first saw Who when I was about 8, back in '91, and I believe it was either a Tom Baker one or a Patrick Troughton one.

I'm male, obviously.

First one a saw was William Hartnell in 1964 (I was 8 and male then, I'm female now).
I suppose my favourite is most likely Tom Baker he was so wacky :) but they all instantly become my favourite when I am watching them!
Chris Eccelston was pretty good - but aren't they all.

I'm seventeen, I first saw Doctor Who when I was fifteen. My first Doctor was Christopher Eccleston. I like him and David Tennant a lot, but I like Tennant because of his wackiness.

I started watching Dr Who with Jon Pertwee's Planet of the Spiders...
He was my favourite until they repeated enough for me to see "The Three Doctors", then Patrick Troughton became my favourite until Sylvester McCoy came along...

Then he was my favourite right up until halfway through David Tennant's first season.

So now.. it's....

1. David Tennant
2. Sylvester McCoy
3. Patrick Troughton

I'm not going to go through the rest because I don't really compare them. Too difficult because their styles are so different.

I like Tom Baker, who was the first one I ever saw. I'm 28, and I saw my first episode of Dr Who ("The Hand of Fear") when I was 12. (I was home alone at the time, late at night, and it actually scared me! "What is this weird, weird show?" I thought.)

I like David Tennant as Doctor Who very much -- he doesn't seem to have any flaws as a Doctor character. I hold Tom and David in equal esteem, I suppose. It's just the difference between the "old school" and the "new school" doctors. But remember, if not for Tom Baker taking the role from 1974-1981, the series likely would never have been memorable enough to have eventually been resurrected for David to appear in. Therefore, I'm sure he's very greatful for Tom laying the foundation for David's present career.

Ya, me too. Eccleston was kind of a "serial killer" doctor  , or at least he often looked capable of such.

I grew up with the fourth doctor Tom Baker, who is my favorite. I am a 36-year old male who first watched Dr. Who in 1976.

Male and 47, first saw the Doctor back in the early 70's. Of all the Doctor's I've seen over the years, I'd have to give David Tennant the number 1 spot by far. He's brought more depth and emotion to the Doctor than I recall from the early years. Baker is still a favorite, though, he was just "off" the perfect amount. Eccleston did an amazing job, but I don't think he could have done what Tennant did with his farewell to Rose, nearly as well.

David Tennant, but then I've only seen the new Doctor Who, since I'm only 17 and was too young when they released the film.

Back in my local fan club days we had the theory that your first Doctor would be your favorite.

I firts saw Dr Who in the mid 80s. They played all the episodes of a story together starting at 10 pm Sat on the local PBS station and I NEVER lasted till the end, always fell asleep.

My first Doctor was Tom Baker.

Lately I've really been jonesing to watch Dr WHo again. I'm really curious about the new one. I didn't like the look of the guy from 28 Days that wore a leather jacket. He looked like a thug . The new guy seems like a sweey guy. I just wonder if since the show is mainstream now has it been dumbed down and made too "sexy"?

I'd love to see it but I don't have cable and I could never afford to buy all the episodes on dvd. The local library has CSI, Smallville even the Jeffersons seasons available for check out but no Doctor Who.

Have they released all the shows yet? I was just getting into the seventh and then discovered girls and college. I did see the Fox USA eigth Doctor. The doctor may have been alright but not the show.

One quality I liked about the different doctors is how well they couls switch from being creepy to goofy.

I think 3, 4, 7 did the switch. but 2 was too silly and 6 was too meanacing at points dispite the crazy coat. 5 was usually kinda dull. 1 was too dry. 8 was too short lived and i havent seen 9 or 10.

And then theres the forgotten Doctor, the brilliantly talented Peter Cushing. (talented actor I love as Dr Frankenstein but the movies were very goofy, bad writing waste of a great actor.) I remember the movie rumors back when they wanted to get John Cleese to play him. That would have been like getting Nicolson to play the Joker a perfect match, if the writing was good.

I cant say if i have a favorite Doctor. Who would I most like to sit down and watch right now? the ones I missed like 7 and 10.

But I suppose as it stands i like 4 then 3. Because they handled humor and seroius so well together and I loved the outfits.

How that for a follow up question? Whats you favotite Doctor outfit? Doctors only.

Before David Tennant filled the role, I was tied between Tom Baker, Patrick Troughton, and Sylvester McCoy.

As for favourite outfit, has to be Tom Baker's outfit. Specifically, that grey coat he wore for The Seeds of Doom and other stories.

Eccleston was a bit brooding, but he wasn't violent or anything. He had kind of a flippant sense of humor and he liked to make fun of / play mind games with humans.

Tennant is interesting. He's more lighthearted than Eccleston and acts a bit silly and absent-minded at times, but he turns serious in the more dramatic episodes. He seemed to form a strong emotional connection with his first companion Rose, and often he tries to reach out to his enemies.

I haven't seen any original series episodes, but I like Tom Baker's outfits. I also like Davison's outfit as the Fifth Doctor.

I like Tennant's costume: the suit, the high-tops, and the trench coat. I also liked his glasses - he inspired me, when I got a new pair, to go for thick frames.

Doctors only...aw damn...

I've even got the sewing book at home that shows you how to make Adric's outfit.. :pig:

Jon Pertwee always had impressive outfits, not that I would wear something like that though.

Seeds of Doom . . . its been a long time. That wasnt the Sherlock Holmes outfit was it?
Was it his final season? The all burgendy outfit? Originally I didn't like that outfit but not long ago I was trying to get a friends mother to knit me the Burgendy scarf and I found a sit all about Tom Bakers scarf. There was the original then a second one then they started to become frayed so they were knit together. His scarf actually became longer. I remember the story on why it was so long was they didnt give insctructions on how long to make the scarf so ahe just used up all the yarn in the bag.
I'd lkie to have a tom baker scarf knitted in shades of grey to go with my black slouch hat and longcoat.
I know about adrics costume! I had the Doctor who Pattern book when it came out. I had a woman knit me the scarf and the Action Man 1st doctor outfit but at the time the us didnt have 12 inch gi joes so I had to put it on a artists manequin.
Remeber the tardis console pillow and the K( plush doll.
Is it true K( has been on the new series?
I saw a toyset at a Star Trek convention and whats up with the new control room? I saw the one on american television with the 7th changing into the 8th and it looked like the auxialary control room. Is the new set computer generated?
I see Cyberman toys , The Helmet looks really cool but it seems a little too c3po like to me. I thought the 5th doctor on cyberman was looking pretty well. I liked the cooling tubes and bib earphones.
So who else has been on the new show besides them and the Daleks? The Sontarans? The Ice Warriors?
I used to write the actors and they would send me autographed postcards. I'm missing the seventh doctor anybody got his address?
