L33t actually is a corruption of 'elite'.

Some other l33t terminology, kept in letters:

'Pwned' or 'owned': Meaning being dominated or having your arse kicked. To 'own' or 'pwn' a game is to be winning and winning well.

'Haxor', usually spelt 'h4x0r': Hacker, usually in a derogatory sense in games.

'Teh': The, but misspelt.

'Leet': 'Elite', used in the context of 'bloody good'.

'OMG' or 'zOMG': An abbreviation of 'Oh my god'.

'Noob': A derogatory form of 'newbie'. Usually spelt as 'n00b'.

'Nerf': Screwed up, does less than it is supposed to.

I dislike "leet" speak. I really don't see what is so elite about it at all.

However, I'm not above occasionally using the word, "pwn."

Me too. I don't mind using 'pwn', 'own', 'ftw', but I spell them properly. Good grammar and punctuation is a dying art. And the young 'uns text each other 'cos they've given up on speech. I fear for the future of the English language, nay, the future of humanity!

hahaha... i do not fear for the future of the english language... my autism forces me to mutilate it pretty bad unless the computer fixes it for me...

I concur, I'm probably the one of the ever decreasing amount of teenagers who cares about proper grammer these days.

On a different note, it is interesting how humans are getting increasingly dumber.
