ex cons are probably more likely to be sociopathic than the general population, and lots of sociopaths display facades of having a "heart of gold" to deceive others. if someone has a clean record, than i can be assured that, at least so far, the worker has regularly managed to set aside his possible sociopathic tendencies during work.
