PIck a super-power and then explain how it could backfire on you in the real world. For example, my chosen ability to shoot lightning from my fingertips could be a problem if any external source of electrical power were to draw it out of me against my will.

This assumes you have control over your super-ability.

If I could turn invisible, I might not be able to see myself when I do it. I mean, who says invisible people are visible to themselves?

Psychometry - I'd spend the rest of my life being completely grossed out by where everything has been.

Omniscience.

Benefits: I would know the solution to every problem and the answer to every question.

Drawbacks: I would know what people really think of me.

The ability to control electricity
Backfire: Even with electrical resistance, being hit with a bolt of lightning would still hurt. And shorting out/exploding electrical devices would have a very big downside.

Such was my thinking. Oh well, just wear thick rubber gloves at all times, eh?

chronoshifting (stopping time to transport to another area instantaneously), time traveling and firebending (Azula level: blue flames and lightning)

I would like to fly. The drawback could be due to the fact I get lost easily. Although, maps could prove to be quite useful with an aerial view, but then again; I could not see the street signs from up there. Yeah. I can see myself flying around in circles trying to find my destination...kind of like I drive. Sure would save on gas money though...
