I am trying to formulate my thoughts as to what constitutes an addiction and what constitutes a compulsion. It's pretty cut and dry that opiates and alcohol are physical addictions (along with other prescription drugs). While you can have a compulsion to overeat or have sex, play video games, or any other type of behavior that is done to an excess, I can't see how these would fit into the standard definition of an addiction. I would like to hear different inputs and I was thinking this website would be a good place to solicit intelligent input. Thanks in advance.
