With all due respect, I disagree - L knew it was coming and knew there was nothing that could stop it, which is why he chose the course of inaction. Though I would agree he wasn't completely sure, as using the Death Note was his last-ditch attempt at getting Light to come out of the closet - which worked. L knew what would happen should he finally provoke Light. Nonetheless, Light did win the war against L.

That being said, with all due respect, it's just a freaking anime, fangirls! Sheesh!

With all due respect, if L had seen it coming, he wouldn't have revealed to Light his intended plan of testing the 13-day rule.
