I've found a great looking D&D client for playing online, check it out here:
http://www.triaxe.co.uk/dnd/index.php?p ... ine%20Chat

I'm thinking about starting a game, so I'm going to need players. Of course, I'd rather play than DM, and I don't have much DMing experience, so any DMs would be welcome, especially if you can give me tips.

Anyways, I think I'll just ask around here, see if anyone wants to play. If anyone does, then we'll discuss a good time to play. Just beware the Gazebo. :P

Aspie_for_the_Lord, I'm sure we can come to some compromise; Wouldn't want an unbalanced game, after all. :P

bheid, sounds good. Can you think of anyone you think would like to play?

I'm thinking that we can do this sometime during the work week, since my weekends are normally busy. One to two hour sessions on Thursdays or something? I guess we should start discussing what times would be good for us. I wouldn't want to get together a party, only to find out that no one can get on... 8O

I'm afraide I don't have time to play myself, what with my exams comming up, but I have been DM of many games, and I could give you a few pointers if you are interested.

1: Always have a list of prepared NPCs to pull out on short notice, making up names "on the go" is not a good idea (As Morpheus Bilbo Kenobi is an excelent example of)

2: Bookmark the pages in the Monster manual that you know you are going to need. Enough time is spent looking things up in the books as it is. Also when playing online the http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35 is a great help, as it saves you from messing around bith books at all.

3: When playing hard adventures, always have a way of introducing new characters into play, should the original ones die. It isn't very realistic, but the game is more about fun than realism, and just sitting around because your character has dies isn't much fun.
3,1: Have your players make a "reserve character" so as little time as possible is waisted.

4: When in doubt steal! Adding things inspired from movies and books into the game is completely acceptable, not every DM is a briliant writer.

Those are the basics... oh and try to avoide rust monsters, your players will hate you if you throw one of those at them. :)

I'd be interested in playing. Although I'm not so sure about the choice of online client.

Id be interested in playing depending on what version of DnD you're going to be playing. I dont much like any of the versions from 3.0 on. 2.0 ftw!

My dad only plays 2.0, so that's what I'm currently playing in RL. He also has this system called birthing names, were when you create a character, you roll up a random word, and it is added to your name, and changes you. For example, one character I have is named Jolram the Candle, and he can cast burning hand every hour. Gimble the Yardstick if exactly three feet tall, ect.
