omg yes! I know this part of the forum is for 30 and up but I had the need to respond. I have a spatial awareness problem so I can only drive to certain places. Which is about 20ish minutes away from my house. I can't drive to city like areas or crazy highways and whatnot. I have some crazy driving stories....so I've learned that I shouldn't drive to certain places. It sucks because it makes me feel handicapped.

I'm starting to. I totalled my car a couple of months ago and I'm gunshy from that. A couple of years ago, I spun my car across 2 lanes and off the road in the rain, so now I don't like driving in the rain. And my eyes are getting worse as I get older, so that causes anxiety as well. I'm trying to fight it because I live in a rural area, am 18 miles from the nearest town, and mass transit is non-existent here.

I hate driving!

I grew up in eastern Europe where I could take buses and trams everywhere. I didn't get my license until I was living here in the US. I was 21.

I can drive well enough (just follow the rules), but so many people here are horrible drivers. I was rear-ended by a woman who just drove off, leaving me with whiplash and a broken wrist. A pickup waited until the last minute to turn across 4 lanes of traffic, and when I slowed down, I spun out on the ice, nearly hitting a pole, and ending up sideways across 2 lanes of oncoming traffic. I barely got out of the way. By the time I got to my fiancé's house, I was in full on panic attack and nearly passed out from hyperventilation. I had to skip 2 days of school and 3 of work because I had a panic attack every time I got in the car. Just a few months ago, a woman nearly merged into me because she didn't want to slow down for a line of traffic. I slammed on my breaks, and she still only missed me by 4 inches.

I am desperately longing to move back to Europe where I can use public transit again. :(

I love driving and I currently hold my HGV CE so I can drive 44tonne trucks as well as my ADR for carrying dangerous goods, I also have a private pilots license.

From riding a bike as a kid, through my motorbike years and on to fast cars, I have loved the control I can have. I still get in my car and just head out with no destination in mind, just enjoying the journey.

I HATE driving. I can't wait for driverless cars. I have not been in an accident and I have been driving now for around 17 years but I am a nervous wreck when I drive and go into a panic whenever I have to take the turnpike or freeways. Ugh....

I dislike driving, and stick to driving just around our neighborhood when I can help it. I have been in several car accidents, some of which were due to my slow reflexes to get out of the way of oncoming trouble.

My husband is car phobic and unable to drive at all though, so I am our primary driver.

I wish we lived in a place that had good public transportation, but here one must drive to get anywhere. So I am our little family's designated driver.

I love driving. I love the freedom it gives me to get up and go. I rarely ever go anywhere that I do not drive myself because, if I have a panic attack or my anxiety decides to spike, I can leave. If I have to get someone else to drive me, then I'm screwed and it doesn't end up well. Being able to get away is a big part of why I drive. To reference my high school senior year government teacher... When you got to get away you got to get away.

I get nervous and clumsy when being watched, so when I see a cruiser or have one behind me, I feel like my driving ability gets worse. I've never been in an accident, though, and would otherwise consider myself a good driver.

I love to drive and have good skills.

However what I cannot stand are instances of what I term stupid lawlessness.

I can tolerate speeding and even a rolling stop.

However what I cannot tolerate are lack of freeway / motorway / autobahn etiquette, dumb / cut off lane changes and driving out of one's right of way at stop signs / traffic circles / roundabouts.

I also cannot stand people who use the right turn lane to bypass traffic then go straight ahead, pretending they did not realize it was a right turn only lane.

Of course all of these things I described are forms of stepping on toes, a type of bullying. No doubt most of the perps are probably NTs.

I love driving, its one of the few times im free, out on the open road..I do have a bit of PTSD from an accident a few years back but I am conquering that,, driving to me is being by myself.. the motion of the car and the sound of the engine is calming to me and its one of the few times that my ADD is not as severe... and seeing the different sites and changes in the sky and sun..

I have a licence but no car. I live where I can walk to work and I can take a bus or a train to get to the city. When I did have a car didn't like driving onto the highway and don't like the crazy things that other drivers do just to get to their destination 1 second quicker. So didn't drive all that much.

I'm very good at driving, I think it's my hypersensitivity. Also I'm like completely alert because driving with all those people on cellphones texting makes me concentrate on driving itself to avoid them.

I can't drive, it's too scary & powerful a machine, more than I dare be responsible for piloting.
Can't judge distances well, and I panic when cars are honking & I'm confused at an intersection.
Too much important stuff going on all at once, and I can't react that quickly & correctly.

I think I'm a good driver and good pilot, but I live in a fairly confined area where things are familiar. I try to ride with others or use public transportation if I visit a big city with lots of traffic/high-speeds.

I have no real problem with driving, it's mostly other people that drive me crazy...But I actually do like driving...In fact I own two cars...Both are manual transmission cars, so you really have to pay attention to the road, which helps

To OP have you tried driving a more powerful car than you previously owned? Also how do you get on with satnavs? learnt to drive in a small engine car and felt very vulnerable, recently i had the chance to drive slightly bigger and more powerful car for a week, and i felt so much more confident on the road. I cant navigate and drive at same time, i don't go anywhere unless i know it very well, or have a satnav.
