OK, this is the thread for asking those questions you've always wanted to know the answer to. Hopefully someone will know the answers to some of them. Serious or funny, let's hear them. (You don't have to wait until the question above yours has been answered, before posting :) )

I'll start it off...that saying that a butterfly flapping its wings in the Brazilian rainforest will cause a hurricane miles away. Is that really true?

How many of a bands' songs do you have to like before you can be considered a true fan of said band?

I've watched my daughter on MSN chatting to her friends on webcam.

My question is:

When people type LOL why do their faces invariably look serious? or sometimes they look just nuetral?

They are rarely laughing out loud! They should be typing NLOL (not laughing out loud) or LIBIFTSTLOLOMO (laughing inside but I feel too silly to laugh out loud on my own)

LOL (I realy did laugh out loud)

Not as a direct cause-and-effect*; the idea is that the minute changes in the air that the butterfly makes can "snowball" and cause larger effects.

(* "will" implies direct causality; "could potentially" is more accurate)

It's really a sign of indifference.

I'm more interested in knowing why they call it a "butterfly", because frankly, butter does not fly.

Interesting one this, one theory is that it's something to do with a butterfly's excrement resembling butter 8O :-

He’s just the man to write a poem
All agree, of those who know him
Want the job yourself, then sorry, it
's Asparval our poet laureate!

Sorry, bit of a cheat there. Couldn't think of a word to rhyme with laureate.

Yeah, OK it was a crap poem. :)

What I want to know is this. Men and parking; no it's not sexist, they really do do this. Why do men drive past empty parking spaces to park in one that's exactly the same size, distance to the shops, width between cars etc. further down the row. Why don't they just park in the first available slot?
