As mentioned throughout discussions, agencies like AASCEND.net, GRASP.org, and Autism, or Asperger Societies would recommend licensced low cost Accountants who've had some type of personal/professional experiences with Aspergers adults.

Regarding the marketing of skills, the best-bets are to investigate discussions focusing on educational, employment, and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Excerpt from Forum description, 'How about planning a campaign to spread Autism awareness?' "fits the bill so to speak" -- as this Forum seems to be geared towards developing action plans!

I defer to the mods on if this topic belongs there or in this sub-forum.

I see several different sets of challenges here.

1. Education - The resources out there to explain education oppertunities to Aspies are limited, and I'm not sure what to do about that.

2. Employement/Entrepreneurial - I've long spoken about the need for Aspie-aligned businesses, preferably ones that could be located in an area with many Aspies, or create areas where Aspies would like to move.

One problem that I've seen is that it's hard to create a business from scratch. It would be easier if there were existing Aspie-aligned businesses in a marketplace (ethier geographic or market), but so far, there has not been much success there.

With April being Autism Awareness Month, we're presented with additional opportunities to boost appropriate independent living resources for Asperger adults.

GOAL: To apply what is learned from case-studies of model independent living resources, and to extend to resources i.e, advocacy elsewhere...by Autism Awareness Month -- in 2014! In order to do this, who specifically is "ahead of the curve" so to speak in 2013 -- to guide us through Autism Awareness Month 2014??

As said earlier in this discussion thread, the concrete and tangible resources e.g, "Where are you Aspergers Society?" must boost their presence on WrongPlanet.net i.e, with their case studies of face-to-face advocacy....opportunies for agencies like AASCEND.net, GRASP.org, and the Autism/Aspergers societies to boost their grants, and donations! "Okay, we get it, money talks here too!"

For Autism Awareness Month 2014, helpful resources are becoming increasingly known and available. After all, the frustration felt through mincing words i.e., semantic gymnastics throught discussions on WrongPlanet Forum too rarely boosts progress, and too often "gets lost in the shuffle." The goal for Autism Awareness Month 2014? Much less frustration expressed and felt in the Aspergers Community!

P.S. Awareness, acceptance, and accomodations of Aspergers individuals in the NT community are goals for Autism Awareness Month in the year....2025!

Thank-you

Regarding resources (or more accurately the lack of resources/awareness) for Asperger adults, reassessing the sixth post in discussion ‘On Independence’ is a good bet!

In short, much of the lack of progress regarding helpful resources, awareness of Aspergers, etc. etc. is like the classic self-fulfilling prophecy e.g., with WrongPlanet.net playing important roles on all facets of Aspergers, Why are there sentiments of doubt; regarding the clout of….WrongPlanet.net?

Is it any surprise that WrongPlanet.net becomes sadly overlooked by Asperger advocacy agencies, adjunct professional services, thoughtful people, etc. etc. during yet another Autism Awareness Month? -- Where is the PR Campaign for the Asperger Society? www.aspergersociety.org

With the networking potential of the Internet firmly established, why is it so elusive to reapply our energies towards that self-fulfilling prophecy boosting positive, progressive actions??

Concerning Asperger adults, the obectives of Autism Awarenss Month 2013 is to develop action plans BY Autism Awareness Month....2014!

Thank-you

What actions would you recommend? Are they actions that can be taken by individuals, or do they need multiple individuals working together to achieve?

Action plans are best done by collective efforts of individuals e.g., grassroots efforts. Contact agencies like the Asperger Society, Autism Society, and/or Aspergers agencies in the nearest large city.

Many agencies offer memberships available at reasonable fees. Become a member, attend meetings in person. Ask agencies to reassess their case-studies on face-to-face advocacy; hence impressions of just how an agency may be of help.

Also, point-out importance of quality, up-to-date informational content on an agency's website e.g., for quite a few agencies, some of their content is out-of-date, website links are no longer valid, and emails go unanswered. In other words, maintaining quality, up-to-date informational content, and good communications can help boost an agency's presence, grants, donations, and membership fees.

Thank-you.

In essence, Asperger adults periodcally need to consult with advisors when self advocacy alone is not enough!

I'd say that everyone, Aspie, NT, Martian, etc etc, neds to consult with advisors when specialized assistance is required. Most people don't do automobile repairs themselves, most people don't buy properties themselves, etc. etc.

Now, I do think it would be helpful if there was more attention paid to this issue, both online here at WP, and offline by advocacy groups.
