Not so much a thread killing post this one, but I want to pose a question:

Is it worse to be a thread killer or an ignored poster (by that I mean you post in a thread, but the conversation carries on around you as if you'd never posted ... if that makes sense ... not that I'm making much sense today!)?

At the moment I'm in a number of threads where the conversation seems to have flowed smoothly around me without even a pause for breath. Perhaps it's paranoia, though my feeling is you're only paranoid if it's not true :D

This could get depressingly deep & philosophical, so it could be one way to finally kill off this thread :P

yeah i know the feeling, it's not funny

but at the same time i often do not reply to messages that i find quite interesting, some messages i just read without replying, i'm not a frequent replyer, read far more than i write, so silence doesn't mean you haven't inspired anyone ...
(that's how i comfort myself anyway hihihahahoho :D )

Yeah, that is a weird feeling, when you post and people ignore what you say. Like maybe you're irrelevant, or said something that no-one else on WP either agrees with, disagrees with, or even understands...or maybe it's boring...that happened to me once in a thread and it really freaked me out because the OP talked to everyone else in that thread. I took it personally :( No point getting upset though. But it's nice when someone says 'yeah, I know what you mean'. So, yeah, I know what you mean, hehe.

WP the whole shebang is ignoring me! I've not been getting post notifications for a few weeks. :? Mind you, I can stand at a bar for ages while people all around and even behind me get served...would make a great secret agent being invisible. Who said that?!

You have to be more bossy in order not to be ignored or make threads that are so outragous people have to respond just to defend their opinions and then you can get a discussion going.

Sometimes in a nother thread I replied to ppl who replied to me a few posts back as I was not checking the posts everyday and skipped over the last few posts and those ppl we're offended. But, it would have been rude to ignore the ppl who replied to me. And the new ppl sometimes I find it hard to talk to or write to ppl because I don't know them.

my problem is i am so subject focussed thatsometimes i don't even really realise that behind the subject is a human being
8O 8O
so i am probably kind of weird in my replying, i really hope no one is offended by me, cause i never ignore anyone intentionally
(except very noisy or pushing people, but that's just cause it's overwhelming me and i install a bit of breathing area in order to survive)

and i'm also very much in my own thoughts

I feel this way a lot, which leads me to obsessively rereading my posts trying to figure out if I had made some kind of social mistake that scared people away.

Yes, I do that too, but not as much as I used to.

I think I miss the point sometimes, in my posts; the OP is talking about one thing and I veer off in another direction...probably a bit Aspie-ish :?

Hi guys - thanks for all the replies. Sorry I didn't reply sooner - that dreading thing called work got in the way again  Quiet day today - most of the bolshy staff are at a staff meeting, so I'm chilling out, free from phone calls and e-mails

I'm glad it's not just me that occasionally feels left out of a thread - I don't feel quite so paranoid now.

Sort of broadening out the theme, it's similar to what happens IRL in conversations. I launch into my "interesting" discussion, people switch off, and the conversation takes a completely different direction, with me on the side-lines. Having listened to people though, I find most people talk about very uninteresting or mundane things, but I must be missing something, because no-one switches off when they're talking.

I can always come back to the Threadkillers, and know I'll get a friendly reply :D

Igor, I didn't realize that most people didn't the object or point of mosty my posts until they started to ask me to stop posting anymore. I'm much better now at picking my words and phrases than i used to be.

I read this quotation the other day :-

Quote:
When you do talk, don't waste words. Say what is on your mind. Speak your truth plainly and clearly. Don't just recycle the common claptrap that is going around. If you do not know what your truth is, keep quiet.

I appreciate posters who talk plainly and say what they think without too much 'wrapping' that you have to wade through to get to what's actually being said. I've not heard of someone being asked to stop posting before but I don't spend much time here lately so don't know what's going on in other forums. I've noticed there's a tendency here to try and make everything positive and members told not to be negative, but that attitude seems a bit unrealistic imo.

I think i can kill a thread by throwing people off with bluntness and strong opinions.

It would seem that people have good manners and instead of responding they refrain, only rewarding Easy posts with a reply. I'm not about to try and thread kill here just yet though.

Starr (EZ cat) peek at my thread. check the last post. Its for everybody but, want your opinion on a question about the late game show; THE PRICE IS RIGHT

Ill come back and kill this thread again,
come try kill 460 degrees (I will lay the plasma right to it.)
To kill a thread, first you must breathe a little life into it.

Leave em be style, a better way.

460 degrees

Bet you thought you'd killed this thread?

Talking of the Price is Right reminds me of Larsen, a member I've not seen around here for a while. He loved that show. Has anyone heard from him? Hope he's OK.

Anyway...I'll take a look at your thread but you keep changing your posts so I get a bit confused.
