Hi guys - sorry I've been a bit too preoccupied to post recently. I've not forgotten the link I mentioned earlier on the autism talk that was done here - I'm just waiting to be sure that it's fully in the public domain before I do.

I work in a university and there is a teacher training training department. They do a lot of work on autism & aspergers in the classroom. In fact, I think they have an academic who does research into the area. They have another public lecture planned in November on Autism, though I've heard the guy who's doing it is controversial.

On a completely different note, I have a question - am I totally mad??? Why? Because I've just registered on FaceBook. Is this an opportunity for me to see just how many people are going to reject me or is it an opportunity to renew old acquaintances, without the risk of face-to-face contact??? :?

Hi Igor. Cool avatar! :)

I'm on facebook myself, but only to keep contact with people I want to keep contact with. Although I have 127 "friends" (acquaintences) there, many of whom were active teasing me in school, I barely speak with ca. 2 or 3 of them at a somewhat regular basis. It's not bad to be there, because you can find old friends there and if you want take up contact.

Nice to meet you! :)

On topic: Thread is now dead.

Omg....whats this? Kenjuuro, I guess we had upset an oldie here with our presence. I dont know why and to be honest I dont understand what the above poster says but it worries me. Do you think he wants us out of this topic?? It was obviously very precious before we came....

And this phrase confuse me as well:

if you'd want that skill, you'd better be a master threadkiller

you mean you have tried to abandon this thread for years (and by that be the winner of really killing this thread) but then someone new appears and activate it again making everyone again trying to be the last???

s**t, I realise Im a dumbass about the point of all this *withdraw*

I'm going to say something that is indisputable, and by that end all discussion.

I am alive. There. Thread ends.

Aw, don't worry xalepax, syzygyish and lemon were joking

Don't go if you enjoy posting here, I like your posts and your avatar. We pretend we want to kill it...but really it's a friendly chat thread, away from the hassle of the rest of the forums. Everyone is welcome who feels at home here. It's 8)

Happy Friday, threadkillers. I'm off for a few days hill-walking so take care of the thread while I'm gone. :sunny:

you are certainly welcome xalepax
and i was indeed joking, actually i meant: we are trying to kill it every day and we do this for years already (if we try to kill it every day and someone new would come for the first time and indeed kill it, if would be kind of funny)

and yeah it is a quite friendly thread here
i once had a black cat that looked much as your avatar xalepax, it came from portugal, we brought it on our bike from there to belgium
during the night it went hunting and in the morning it was there to continue the road with us.

Thanks lemon! I like this kind of free chat topics. I got my diagnosis over 8 years ago so I have passed the most intense needs on talking about issues concerning that quite a while ago. I just feel comfortable to run this forum as we simply have the Aspergers in common. But of course I dont mind taking part of those topics as well, its interesting as well as most on this forum.

Amazing story about your portugese cat, wow! For the first, just to BIKE within such a enormous long distance as between Belgium and Portugal is impressive enough.
Then to pick up a cat along the way and bring it with you is even more impressive. I just try to imagine how a stray cat from the streets suddenly would accept riding in the bikes front basket for days!

My cat is also from the beginning a stray cat. She was found in the streets and brought to a catshelter where I bought her. I couldnt stroke her with my hand the first two years at all...

Hi xalepax, I am so sorry I upset you, it was indeed a joke,
my sense of humour tends to extremes of hyperbole,
(and posting a lot in the "Post something bizarre about the person above"
thread isn't helping! ).

It was all in jest, and I'd just like to repeat Starr's words:

"Don't go if you enjoy posting here, I like your posts and your avatar. We pretend we want to kill it...but really it's a friendly chat thread, away from the hassle of the rest of the forums. Everyone is welcome who feels at home here. It's Cool "

QFT!

Its okay, I was never upset so dont worry. It was the uncertain part of myself that striked, out of the fact Im a fresh fish on this forum and dont know anyones personality. I will learn by time to see who jokes how (I hope!!) I have seen that bizarre topic but wouldnt dare to enter it at this stage, its a bit complicated for a newbie like me :nerdy:

We found it in a camping place, it was only a kitten, they were two actually, but the female didn't stay with us. she only stayed a month or so.
the place was going to be desinfected and other travellers brought the kittens to us, asking if we could not take care of them.
I guess the riding in the basket was quite natural for this cat, since it was only a kitten.
but to be honest we were pretty surprised too, that it made it all the way to belgium. it has lived 4 more years with us but then we lost it,
we said to eachother that it is probably gone back to Portugal ...
