I have unintentionally killed a lot of threads. However, I can usually see why no one feel they have anything to add, so it doesn't bother me that much. Also, people usually start new threads, so it's not that much of a problem.
Still, wether I am the last poster in a thread or not often depends on the topic.

Humorous threads I never seem to be stopping, and I'm glad that's so. ^^

*******

On 'Save the planet' issue:
I've pondered this quite a bit too, and it just seems that those attempts at getting us to plant single trees or other such single actions on small scales, ...they're really just ways to keep us occupied with something other than stopping the real polluters from continuing what they do. Hence I'm not buying into that anymore.

I am doing sensible things to minor my own part in pollution though. I can't see why I shouldn't act what I think, and I happen to think it's a good idea to minimize our personal levels of pollution.

The problem is that there're single (or small groups of) people who pollutes extensively, and they're guarded by the law so they can continue doing it.

Something's amiss with the law! ...
Where on one hand it protects people who obviously are acting destructively, it does not protect the many single people who are victims of the others' destructiveness.
Doesn't this suggest that perhaps we should not be as law abiding as we're used to think we must be?

It's a question about how much we each of us feel we're meant to, and able to, act for a Just Cause, for something - a Cause or an Idea - that is bigger than ourselves, or if we're just a common guy trying to hang in there and live our life in peace. This is something only we, each of us, can answer to ourselves; no one else can answer for us.
Still, the question keeps coming up, and we're often quick to tell each other what we should be doing. I wish it was as simple as that.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I'll type out a post only to cancel it for fear of killing the thread :X

When a thread is not alive and breathing topic

I have deleted a couple of threads I started (recently) after I thought they might be duplicates, which is against the rules here.

As for locked threads, the last poster is a killer by default. And no one can challenge the post, because you cannot talk about a specific post or thread in a topic anymore.

Really? Why is that? (Not being around here much lately I miss new rules etc)

Which reminds me...there were a couple of people trying to sell subscriptions to digital TV outside the supermarket the other day. One man said to me, 'Madam' (madam? 8O ) 'Would you like to be up to the minute with state-of-the-art digital TV services'

I said 'No'

Don't worry you are not alone - just waiting to see if it dropped off the end of the page :colors:

Talking of windfarms, as we were a while ago, there are two off the north Wales coast, one just built and switched on...they are beautiful as objects, slowly turning their giant blades. Helping with energy production but also graceful, beautiful things in their own right. I could watch them for hours.

Funny that we both think the same way -
Every story I've heard about a windfarm project being set up has been confounded by NT's complaining that it will 'Ruin the Landscape'

Then they clutch at straws and say 'It will endanger wildlife'
'My property value will go down!'
and lobby their local representative to shut it down!

I guess the silent killers of aeroplanes pumping out kerosene fumes into the upper atmosphere and power plants burning coal and pumping out Carbon Monoxide
into the local environment are
'out of site and out of mind'

Then they all b***h and complain if the electricity rates go up because fossil fuels are running out!

UnBelievable!
8O
