There have been times when my opinion has been an outlier so it felt like I was being bullied, but all it was, was nearly everybody disagreeing with me.

Sometimes points of perspective seem to turn to argument. I've seen it a few times. I've only experienced it 1 time on a post about Baltimore. Made no sense. Very distracting

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences + your kind words.

As I think about it, the thing that upset me most was when the OP wrote, “I’d punch you in the face if you were standing in front of me”. I realize this is an online community and physical contact is not possible. Still, the entire notion is quite disturbing to me.

Anyhow, I learned my lesson. I will use the Report button in the future.

I recently experienced "goading" on here, by a new member too, no less, about the same day you had your stuff happening, Rocket.

Mine was someone who's taken Psych in school, was bored on the public holiday and wanted to have some mean fun by in playing mind games with auties -- that's how I felt it to be. They even stated as much.

They joined that same day and got right into goading bullying mode. The mods are keeping an eye on them following my report. Surprise surprise the person in question is now keeping it "butter wouldn't melt."

This person took clear and obvious delight in goading, poking and keeping on. I should have "walked away" but then again I wasn't going to just take it lying down.

I sure don't need that kind of crap in my life though, especially not here, which is supposed to be a place we come to get away from people who want to bully and goad the autistic person, not receive even more of it.

I've been through too much already in my 53 years to take well to that BS, likely coming from someone young enough to be my own son, to boot.

I haven't been bullied on WP, but I have been horribly bullied on a fan forum by a lot of people.

You know you did nothing wrong, right? You should not feel you need a lesson. You're fine!

I, too, have been bullied by a Mod. on WP on numerous occasions(same individual).
Others piled on.
They are still on WP.

I avoid them.

Are you calling me FAT?!

 Just a little Aspie humor, there ...

lol

If I'd grown up wealthy I could see myself growing into a bully. Not an Internet bully, but more of a Biff Tannen sort, with muscle t-shirts and an I-Roc.

I wouldn't say I was bullied, more someone completely misunderstood something I said and aggressively took off sprinting in the wrong direction.

I have generally had a VERY positive experience here on WP, as most people here 'get' me. I was passive aggressively bullied behind my back based on a post I made stating I (was) a high quality person on OKCupid/POF (which I stand by, same as that I would be a high quality unemployed person should the unthinkable happen) and that the girl I was talking to was bat$#^ crazy (turns out she was). Someone claimed in a PM they were so angry with me they wanted to punch my lights out which makes me wonder if some people want to be miserable if they get upset over such a trivial matter. It was a lesson to learn that Aspie adults can be bullies just as much as NT teenagers.

I may be retiring again but it will be on positive terms this time (I hope!).

Well I hope that progress has been made, one way or the other, to keep invaders from degrading those on the spectrum in any thread here. For those of us who are on the spectrum, this is all we have; it is not like other communities that have numerous, sometimes dozens, of other forums to choose from and other public places and social groups to join. I consider it a huge problem here since this is the sole safe haven we have and it must stay that way.

Dear RocketMan so sorry you had a bad experience so unnecessary from a world that is capable of higher behavior. Unfortunately there are folks in the milieu we all share that derive joy from others uncomfort, I have never understood the mechanism entirely but perhaps it was because they sat in soiled diapers too long as an infant and want to strike out and make others know what it is like to sit in feces for hours, the unfortunate side effect of being totally full of sheiss as some folks are.

It's been tried. I give it right back and they usually end up whining that I'm bullying them.

I was basically kicked off of the sound and vision forums because I was a "philistine" in their view, just for expressing minority opinions on things that apparently are untouchable bits of "art." that was the same kind of bullying that I got when I was in the army, only with more hifalutin' language.

^^^
the usual suspects, I see. they skirt on the ragged edge of ad hominem most cleverly. I'm sorry you had to interact with them.
