Hey buddy,

Things are progressing quickly.

I bet you get most, if not all, of your previous functioning back.

Hang in there. Recovery, they tell me, is the hard part-- you're a tough cookie, you can do it.

Be thinking of you.

I'm glad to see you back! Good to hear that you made it through the surgery okay and you're recovering. I wish you all the strength and hope you'll need to get through this.

Are you able to communicate well enough with the people there to get what you need? I hope they are taking good care of you and taking the time to understand you.

We're here for you, if you feel like posting...if you don't feel like it, that's okay, but I'm really glad you gave us an update.

I am using an IPad text to speech app to communicate.

When they did the tongue reconstruction operation they intentionally over swelled the new part of the tongue. The swelling has gone down but not as fast as expected. Therefore on October 30 I will have another operation to speed things up. It is expected I will be released from the hospital that day or the next day.

Physical therapy went so well it is ending Friday, Occupational therapy continues, and tongue and swallow exercises have begun.

I'm glad you're doing well, Sir.

I know you were sort of disappointed that Hurricane Joaquin didn't come closer to us.
