Women have higher genetic value and it is nearly inconceivable for a male and a female of the species to bond in a way that does not entail the male making up for this discrepancy in _some_ way. It could be financial, it could be emotional support, it could be anything.

Possibly if both people have AS, the mating strategies will be both so poorly deployed that nature will let you have a free lunch and just get along without the nastiness.

I'd say if there is no actual love and respect in the union and it's strictly for pragmatic or economic reasons (e.x. with sex just a "favor" in exchange for room and board) then yes it is, but if not then no it isn't.

Depends on the culture and who you ask, a far winger man may say yes, he has to pay or give his wife allot to keep her happy enough for her to want to give him sex, while a far winger feminist woman may call it rape even if the woman was willing, otherwise, no, its a sharing.

Right, I'd say ideally this is what it should be; a lot of people unfortunately just "settle" for someone they don't have a genuine connection with and the marriage ends up just being basically a "roommate" situation, or "sex just in exchange for room and board", but people who's marriages are like this seem pretty pitiful and discontent.

Arranged marriages with a dowry, yes.
"Modern" marriages, no.

They can be if the couple isn't genuinely in love or connected, and are just marrying or staying married for pragmatic or financial reasons.

True. My post was oversimplification, more of a general idea.

Why do people get married anyway? Why bother? Why get government to regulate your relationship?
