It WAS summer, and we older aspies like to experience sunlight now and then. It will pick up at times. Also, there was a flurry of posts to validate the need for the forum in the beginning.

Everybody chill! Can we just get along? There's already been way too much hostility on WP all summer. Everyone is welcome to an opinion. But if you don't like this forum post in a forum you do like. There's a variety to choose from.

If anyone is upset about losing the men's forum they should take it up with Alex. The Adult forum is also the men's forum as its almost always guy subjects & gets raunchy there and even the Women's forum is dominated by men. So seems like the guys already have plenty of space to post their thoughts. If that's not enough space then ask Alex to resurrect the Men's forum.

Meanwhile the older aspies do need a place where we can all gather. Or else create the Romper Room forum to restrict the many, many child members to there so they can't destroy the mature posts with spam, trolling or harrassment attacks.

Quite.

Ah, so this was the, tell us why you love our
little forum thread? I thought it asked about
WHETHER one did. Sorry, I must have misread
the title. Look I DO mostly stay out of here, and
don't say anything bad about the place when I end
up posting. But, like "How do I look" threads, anything
that asks an opinion suffers the risk of getting some
negative comments. Unlike those, I didn't think that
anyone here would be so thin-skinned as to be offended
that there are people who find this portion less exciting
than others on this BBS.

Haven't heard that anyone is. If you find someone,
tell them.

Not one bit of disagreement. I think this area is
a good thing. I just sometimes worry about it's
divisive nature, in that I suspect some of you
don't come of it too often, and interact in themed
areas, so the rest of us don't really hear your opinions.
No big thing, but it saddens me sometimes.

it seems to me you don't like this forum and your continued presence is only flaming, not only because you don't like it but also because you are bored.

However, what makes you think this forum is divisive? Why is it any more divisive than the Kids Crater, Womens Forum or Adolescent Forum :? Do you oppose all of them?

I have no real dislike of it. There are many sections of
this site that I seldom visit. I do check here, every now
and again, as interesting stuff shows up. I wouldn't call
my mere presence flaming, nor would I call giving my
opinions as such, EVEN if they are not singing the praises
of this forum.

Not at all. Indeed, I don't oppose this one. It is pretty
much the Random Stuff for adults. So, why do I call it
divisive? Hell, I don't know. It's a minor complaint, at best.
But, those others listed don't seem to discuss the same
broad line of opinion that this one does. In fact, I'm wondering
if something that I put in the games/fitness forum is more
suited here, as that is mainly populated by those too young
to have experienced them. So, thank you, you gave me an
idea.

**laughs at this thread**

Regarding the forum slowing down in the summer. I like to spend more time out in the garden and go to the beach when the weather is nice. In the winter-time I have more time to post. Plus, I don't know about you, but my conversation skills are some-what lacking.

Merry, I've NEVER bullied you, nor did I ever
bully bizarre (thyme, I believe). The ONLY
cases where I've done anything like bullying
involved mods here, or when one member

thread necros. In all these cases, 'twas
merely to make Alex's stated goals for
how the site should be run be actuated.

I think that anyone looking at this thread
with objectivity would see that you took
a personal attack option. I have not, and
shall not.

Or, does one avoid bullying by saying things
like "f**k off" all the time? I'm sorry, maybe
I just don't understand the etiquette well
here. If that's the case, please assume that
I am as decorous as you.

Well, my response to this post seemed like a good idea at the time, but reading it again today, I am not happy about it.
I felt I was being bullied, but do regret the way I responded, especially in this forum. I think this is a very positive forum, generally, and I feel that my language may have offended some of the regulars here, who see this particular forum as the place for a quiet discussion, without the ill-feeling that sometimes occurs in some of the other forums, and for that, I am sorry.

The problem of how to react to bullying, especially of the subtle kind, is relevent here, but I will leave that for now.

Yes, I tend to post more in the autumn and winter too. There are so many outside jobs and gardening to do in the summer months.

I'm sorry if I made you feel that way.
I tend to be pretty abrasive. Might
be part of why I don't fit in so well,
in this section. Anyhow, no hard feelings
on my end. :P

Not necessarily in this post, but all over WP I have seen many complaints from the men that the men's forum was taken away.

Well I'll take that 3rd sentence as a compliment. Maybe I'm overly sensitive, but I've always gotten the feeling the older Aspies' opinions were generally not wanted in the other forums. Just about any time I post something that has to do with life experience I've had, then some 15 yr old posts that I don't know what the heck I'm talking about even though I have 20+ years of life experience over him. I know it's just typical teen behavior, but if I wanted to argue with children I would have become a mother.

WP it seems is mostly the realm of the adolescent male, therefore as older & a woman I feel not welcome in the other forums. The fact anyone would "miss" my opinion in the other forums never crossed my mind. That said I wish some of the forums were more active like the tv one and the technology one. Heck I don't even remember what they're called anymore. But I've posted on those and a month goes by before anyone responds.

I do like having a forum where I can find the older Aspies in one place. I do wish the forum was secured though by special password, so children could not post in it and non-members could not read it.

This forum is good. I like it now more than when I first came (a few annoying people have left since then...). The only bad part is, there are more questions than answers. Stupid AS...

To bully someone, then call them 'oversensitive' when they react, happens here, and at forums generally. I don't particularly like your style, I find it rather interrogatory, but maybe you don't like mine either. So let's just say that we are both entitled to be who we are and express ourselves in our own ways. I have no hard feelings towards you. I don’t really know you. The condition of your end is probably knowledge best kept to yourself, lol.

I don't think I fit in very well here either. By here, I mean WP. I come, I go. I come back again. So it goes. The Aspie part of me often wants to pull away from group situations.

I think maybe you assumed I was starting a self-congratulatory, 'isn't this forum great!' thread. I wasn't actually. I don’t feel any ‘ownership’ of this forum at all, I did support it and thought it was a good idea, but other members suggested it before I got involved. I was pleased when it was created but I did wonder if it would change other areas of WP, and possibly cause a split because the older members might post here and some of the other forums, like Random, would become just for youngsters. I think that has happened, to some degree. My opinion is that it is a more positive thing when older and younger members mix, for both groups, but that we oldsters still have a place for a little peace and quiet. :) Hopefully getting the odd visit from some of the youngsters who might make us tea, and bring us the occasional cake, lol.

My stomach's not been too good recently,
so that's for the best.

I still post on the main Autism board and a few others. I prefer this forum for lots of different reasons.
