Is that the Firesign Theatre school of philosophy? :)

I do my best to keep people from visiting my home.

My comfort zone is at the fringe of where everyone else is.

I need lots of alone time, this apartment all to myself is bliss! But now I have two 'friends' who are inviting themselves over, and have even started dropping in without phoning first. This may be fine for NTs, but not me. My neighbor dropped in and stayed several hours, then later knocked on my door and wanted a ride to McD's. Neither of them have a car, and I'm too way too easily talked into rides and such, but this time I declined and she got offended...!

And now my 18yr-old son has worn out his mother and is thinking of moving in here... 8O

yes, Zanne, libraries are great: surrounded by books and quiet people!

Postpaleo: helping people with these problems is what the world needs more of. (Oh, and cow manure. I used to shovel those aromatic hydrocarbons out of the barn, & my lungs are fine!)

I remember having a neighbor like those you mention! One formed the habit of listening for my footsteps overhead (she lived downstairs) and running up to use my phone. I asked her why on earth she didn't get one of her own, and she would say she was planning too...And of course she got offended when I asked her not to ask to use the phone when I had just arrived home. She just didn't understand that I needed that time ALONE, after being at work all day! She seemed to think it was about score keeping; let's see, I gave you a ride to the grocery store the other day, so you should let me invade your privacy whenever I wish. She even boasted about another neighbor she used to have, who thought nothing of barging in on her, or vice versa.

Firesign Theatre was a comedy troupe in the Seventies. I owned one of their albums. It was called, "Everything You Know Is Wrong".

And now that I've explained the joke, it's officially no longer funny... :?

I remember that running into that philosophy at some time in the past. Damned if I can remember the name. I tried to google it as well, didn't see it in the greek, saw a few that were hinting at it, but it wasn't blarant. Most likely an offshoot of another school of thought. Didn't wade through all the Roman. It's buggin me, let us know if you tack a name on it puullleeeze, lol.

Nothing is true.....see any roots to that one in what you discussing? But I see it another way as well, so I dunno. The sig seems to be contridictory, but I don't see it that way at all. Pretty simple really. The Naked Lunch, yeah maybe someday I'll read it.

Saw a comedy group called the Ace Trucking Company back in the late 60's. A couple went on to do other things in show business. The one that did the best, was Phil Hartman. I think they opened for the Grassroots.

Thanks, Zannemarie! I figured another hard headed independent thinker. . erm. . .another RAY OF SUNSHINE, (I believe Chuck amended) could see it.

So, here I am on my (now) normal Thursday off. I am trimming the hedges out front of the apt and doing a little watering, putting up my wind chime and from the Catholic grammer school across the way (I am on the 'office side' the playground faces the far corner on t he opposite block so I never hear the little darlings) and I hear Aaron Copeland's "Fanfare for the Comman Man" being played (it is 8:00AM so no biggie on the 'noise') played through the announcment speakers.

I am still choked up about this, I built up my ususal reaction to something that touches me, a slow boil until my tears over flow and I feel my chest is going to explode (not my most favorite feeling, by the way) and I bubble over in tears and heaving sobs (believe me, you would be alarmed or at least surprised by the commotion I cause myself!) because it is so touchingly beautiful!! They have their morning bell "Fanfare for the Common Man!" I am deeply moved.

It is going to be a good day!

Merle

Seriously ?? The answer is not much. My half brother died, and I didn't cry. My nephew has been diagnosed as having epilepsy, and I haven't cried. I don't remember being moved to tears since the clean up after that hurricane in New Orleans. When I heard about those elderly people who died after the staff deserted them, I cried like a baby. I love music, but it doesn't move me to tears. ~Not all that sensitive, I guess ~
