Well, at least the rug is clean now and no longer smells like puke. I also wiped down and disinfected the microphone. Are you a professional dancer?

No. Though it gets me into bars for free,
which is enough.

Wow! Talk about home.

I'm glad that there are other PH's here.

Yes. Home and so much more. Free range thinking. And you can get your doctorate here quicker than you can blink an eye, four pages or less, written and oral combined. I'm hanging my shingle tomorrow.

I would be a regular to a place like this. (Not a place with vomity microphones...at least, not anymore). I have decided I am a minority here (I'm 38). I want to participate in discussion, but I feel I don't have much in common with teens. I don't exactly want to chat about "women's issues", and I don't at all want to talk about sex. I am also actually tired of talking about my AS child. I want this to be all about ME! Sorry...had to say that.

welcome to the thread lostartist. i thought it was an unusual way of typing 30, oh well, yep here we are, sigh.

<pause>

<uncomfortable silence>

now you won't be getting much of that on the other oldies thread!

i like the quiet bits here.

i don't think i posted much biographical info (can't remember anyway): I'm 50 this year, single and childfree, art-school dropout in my young days, ended up in office work at a govt tv station here. did an arts degree (communications) at the same time (in my thirties) got really stressed out by the time i was 40, had to give up work. now i'm on disability pension. have 2 whippets. i'm probably hetero-asexual. i currently drive a 19 year old campervan because i just relocated interstate and that's what i drove over in, with the dogs. i'd love to get rid of it, it's a heap.

This place seems nice and quiet.

Well I'll be 51 end of next month and although I have always known I am not 'normal' I have never tried to put a label on myself and leaving school (about which I will say more another time) 34 years ago I put that behind me very rarely thought about those most unpleasant part of my life.

I did the Aspie Quiz and scored very high Aspie very low NT and was asked if I would fill in a questionnaire about my stims, what me? I thought opening the page... The well worded page listed various behaviors with options ending with "I never use this stim"

Now 'never' is a very powerful word for the first time in all those years I recalled the hail of objects paper darts to encyclopedia sized books hitting the back of my head should I be rocking and the teacher have there back turned, the playtime ritual of name calling, taunting mimicking my hand wringing.

I hated school my secondary school was as unpleasent but I did eventually learn the essential skills to survive in an NT world My first job went well and I did well at an engineering apprenticeship, worked in electronic manufacture for many years in the early 1980s I had a rare and short relationship with a girl I was devastated returned from my job in Europe to england in quite a mess ended up spending 2 months in the bin . glad to get out of there I again worked in electronics untill I was sacked for bad timekeeping and taking days off without leave brought about by many pressures but mainly my then obsession with hashish.

I then started working in the Rock & Roll industry which was great and then encompassed many freedoms on my 35th Birthday I decided having wasted half my 3 score and ten the wrong gender through out my jeans and put on a frock eventually having fully transgender surgery in 1999.

I still work in electronics have a beautiful car with a loud engine so passengers don't hear me speaking aloud the advertising slogans and registration numbers of passing vehicles in a company where no one is that normal.
Anyway last week has not been too good for me I begun by completely messing up an administrative task because I completely misunderstood my instructions and misunderstood our relationship with people we are working with. I have displayed the diplomatic ability of Boris Johnson relaying suggestions to a colleague and have been under so much pressure my speech breaks up with a stutter.
I was goggling the internet and found WP.

Well thats the ultra lite version of my life story.
Hopefully further detail to come.

hi iceb,

sounds like an interesting life. sorry the hash got to you. all things in moderation you know!

i think there's a few transgender people around here, and also people who just like the clothing anyway. there's probably theads about it somewhere - i haven't worn a skirt since i was in high school, but then women have been wearing men's clothing for a long time.

it's good that your still in the workforce, i'd rather be earning money if i could cope with the stuff that goes with it. who is boris johnson? is that a brit MP? what're you driving?

welcome to the world of AS!

Damn. I was out of town for a few days and a new forum for mature people got started without me. A full four pages, part of it taken up by some weird feud. I started reading the thread with anticipation, because I am the right age but intimidated by the Dino-Aspie cafe, and then was taken aback that there is already some name-calling going on.

In the interests of having another mature cafe, is there any way the two of you can privately resolve your issues for the greater good?

oh it's pretty much resolved. CC went back to the cafe where she complained about me and the regulars there have embraced her to their bosom. there's still a bit of nostril flaring going on about it over there, but it's dying down.

i hope others will start threads too, with other flavours. i don't want to be the only alternative, i just thought i'd start something. one or two threads aren't really enough for the numbers interested.

I went over there and read the last few days, and didn't get the sense that cc was embraced. Just wanted to let you know that might be a theory of mind issue for you.

Love your campervan. And the dog?
Let me guess: part dingo/part dalmatian? A dingy dalmatian?

I have a mature rant.

I took a flying leap off the top of a long flight of slippery stairs 2 years ago, practically levitated, and tried to stop my fall with my right arm. My arm was pulled out of my body. I shredded a large piece of shoulder cartilage and had 2 titanium anchors permanently sutured into my shoulder last summer, but the pain never went away. I had another MRI and visit with orthopedic surgeon on Monday, and found out that my previously undamaged biceps tendon is now in shreds.

He had the nerve to tell me that if I was 20 years younger, I wouldn't have been injured at all.
Humph.
And this guy is going to be operating on me in 9 days.

re: the alleged drama
well it's such a high post count thread that you'd have to go back 10 to 20 pages and it's fairly tedious anyway. i don't think it's a 'theory of mind' thing, i found her tedious then, i still do now. if you come in late you can have a 'theory of mind' thing about it too. I'm tired of well meaning advice about it.

i suggest we all forget it.

the dog is a whippet, i have 2.

re: your arm
sounds serious! hope they patch it up ok.

Yes and very notorious for offending large swathes of the community.

I will tell you about my car at some other point. I have always been a tad obsessive about my motor vehicle's, My farther used to say I was like Toad of Toad Hall.
It is a Lotus Excel.

Thank you for the welcome.
