I've always loved that quote. It's so true.[/quote]

Another way of saying pretty much the same thing would be to say remove the plank from your own eye before you remove the speck from your brother's eye.

Awwwww, you sound happy. I freak out when someone gives me a number. They usually call me first and I never know what to say. Small talk ain't my big thing. But since I'm typing, I wonder if it's just a nervous tic. Anyway, good luck with the 2 of you. 8)

You seem good with small talk on this forum. You're good with small talk when the pressure is off. You're capable, it's just difficult under a perceived spotlight.

Anyway, I believe I am a borderline AS/NT. As such, I believe that Aspies and NTs are essentially the same, the only difference is in the way we communicate or are able to communicate with each other. Believe it or not, 99.99% percent of NTs don't even know that Aspies exist. They sometimes seem intolerant because they just don't know that you communicate differently, thus they don't know what to make of an Aspie because Aspies don't fit their frame of reference. Usually, I tell NTs that I work with simply that I am a very literal person and that I have a difficult time with social cues. I further explain that if I have things literally stated to me in very clear and precise terms, I'm more than happy to comply. This usually works and I'm more or less in synch with the people I regularly deal with. It's amazing, most people are generally very accommodating if they understand how to get along with you.

I've found the same to be true myself.

Anyhow, welcome, Complex.

I see it more as " What you focus on becomes your reality"

Like if you are ski-ing down a slope and thinking "I hope I don't run into any trees.I hope I don't run into any trees" That's likely what will happen. I doesn't matter that it's what you are trying to avoid. Alternatively if you focus on having fun, you probably will.

My two cents worth. I also find it hard to put into practice.

I still don't see the difference, maybe back in gradeschool I did, but when it comes down to it the only real difference I see between aspies and NT's are - social disabilities, hypersensitivities, and sometimes though less often just alternate wiring in how they feel life.

Other than that, with most AS personalities I see, its like I'm just seeing an altered version of an NT personality that I'm used to seeing quite often.

Exactly, stop demonizing NTs. Because I am AS myself, and I tend to relate to NT people more in real life. I sometimes can stand other AS people to be honest with you. Because to be honest, I think video games are boring, I sometimes give social tips to some on my NT friends, I haven't been bullied at all ever since I got into college, you wouldn't even tell that I look like an AS person. Plus I am trying to make sure my grades are 3.5+ GPA for transfer credits to go to a 4 year college, I want to have a high paying career when I am older, I get along well with others, my interests are more NT oriented (going to work out, going to the beach, going to the mall, doing outdoors activities, travelling, listening to music, reading, etc.), I look NT on the outside if you see me at first. But I am not hating on my own kind, infact I dealt with AS and LD issues the worst out of most people in the past. We are all humans and we should not segregate ourselves.

I don't hate NT's but I hate normies. That is a narrower concept. Those don't have to even BE normal, but they identify strongly as normal, they NEVER make an effort to understand other people, they rather ridicule them, they claim I should understand them though, respect and look up to. They sicken me.

Most of my care workers are normies.
