I tested out as an NT and was very disappointed, as I was reasonably sure I'm an aspie. But as I am also very ill with CFIDS and FM, as is at least one other person who posted, the overlap of symptoms could explain it.

Although the test suggested you are NT, that doesn't mean you don't have autistic traits. That's the good thing about the aspie test, it shows where you are more NT and also where you are more Aspie - I hope that makes sense!

There is an autistic spectrum, and the best description I've been given is that it's like a rainbow. You may be in the red band, or the violet band, or somewhere in between. Or maybe on the outskirts, where you're NT but do have some autistic traits.

There's another test - I can't remember if it's mentioned in this thread - you may like to give it a go. It's the Broad Autism Phenotype Test - available on the OK Cupid dating website. You don't have to sign up to the website - when you've completed the test, you just click on the button to view your results rather than giving your details. It's quite good, in my opinion anyway!

Thanks a lot lundygirl. The 4 line graphs are quite useful, and it says that I am "probably on the broader autistic phenotype." I am some sort of odd, as a so-called normal person wouldn't be irritated by flunking out on an aspire test. :D Actually, my results on this test are interesting enough that I copy/pasted them into a word document. Bottom line is that I've never found anything worthwhile in making small-talk. conversation requires energy, and with rather severe Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome, I don't have enough energy to waste. But good intellectual conversation about something that interests me is energizing, at least until I crash.

I just have to ask, what is the validity of this test anyway, is it used as a diagnostic tool?

To the best of my knowledge, any on-line test is not valid for diagnosis of any condition. Professionally, I am very used to using the DSM-IV for addiction issues as well as many of the mental health diagnoses, although I am only certifieded to diagnose addictions and codependency stuff. But I have not found the Dx for Asperger's/Autism useful to determine if someone like myself, possibly at the light-weight end of the spectrum, is diagnosable. My severe CFIDS/FM muddies the waters too much. And it has not become enough of an issue to seek out a specializing psychologist. Non-specialists who I know just give me a blank look when I mention my suspicions.

I have online versions of all the tests which were done when I was assessed for AS (because I have AS and asked a million questions about what there were, where they were from, how they worked etc :D ). If you all want, I can link them.

The specialist I saw said he believed that if they gave a clear yes or no, they were reliable. That he would only investigate further if they indicated borderline. He also did a structure verbal interview but he said this was only a means of confirming the other tests.

Shout if you want them.

Ok.

The first is a screening test for Borderline Personality Disorder. Doc says scoring 7 or above would warrant further investigation:

psychiatry.ucsd.edu/forms/Mclean.doc
(This one doesn't show up as a link but if you paste it to the web address bit it opens up as a doc- took me a while to figure that out :D )

The next was the HAD-scale which screens for anxiety and depression:

http://www.surreyhealth.nhs.uk/dcp/Documents/D1.3d2.pdf

Then the Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale:

http://www.psymed.info/default.aspx?m=Test&id=52&l=3

Then the wellknown AQ test:

http://aq.server8.org/

Followed by the less wellknown EQ test:

http://glennrowe.net/BaronCohen/Empathy ... tient.aspx

Then the Ritvo Autism-Asperger's Diagnostic Scale (RAADS) which he said was pretty much the same as the AQ and EQ tests so acted as a 'second opinion' (starts on page 9 of the document):

http://aspdx.org/doc/RivtoAdultASDTest[1].pdf

And finally, if you're still conscious, the Autism Spectrum Screening Questionnaire (ASSQ). You answer these questions based on how you were BEFORE 12 years of age. For an autism diagnosis the characteristics have to have been present as a child and not developed as an adult:

http://scatn.med.sc.edu/screening/ehlers-assq-1999[1].pdf

Good luck.

By the way you can find an on-line version of the RAADS here. It is a lot easier than trying to score it yourself. I also have the AQ and a number of other tests on that site. As time goes by I'll also be adding EQ, SQ and a few others.

Your Aspie score: 157 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 39 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

Thanks, I enjoyed seeing some new test I havn't tried yet.
I have been diagnosed with Aspergers today, but that didn't stop me from wanting to take some tests.
Summary of scores
8 = MacLean Screening Instrument for BPD
13 = HAD-scale(Anxiety)
15 = HAD-scale(Depression)
17 = Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale
42 = AQ
7 = EQ
155= RAADS-R
22 = ASSQ

They all basicly backs up the diagnosis.

Doing this quiz it seems unlikely that anyone could actually score NT, except perhaps an extrovert, but this could just be my AS speaking ;). Has anyone had an NT take the test and pass NT or know of someone who has scored as neurotypical?

My scores were:

Aspie: 95 of 200
Neurotypical: 123 of 200
You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits

I took it once before and I looked even more neurotypical then.

Hi, everyone! Let me put my two cents in. I took this test and scored 106 out of 200 for aspie- traits and 98 out of 200 for neuro-typical traits. This is just one online test. It is very limited. Let me explain, some people may not interpret the questions the same way and or they have a poor idea of how they actually behave. It would be helpful to have some feedback or to have someone avaliable to ask questions regarding certain individual test questions. I really didn't have much confidence in the answers that I gave. I know and am still learning how people in general act and their motives. This is not so I can "ape" them, :D but that I just find it very valuable to know how people tick. My understanding of people isn't the same as an NT's understanding. I notice patterns and I remember and comprehend concepts, but I don't really personally experience life the same way, therefore, don't truly understand people. Socially, most of the time I'm clueless. I stay out of those situations, in others if I'm in "business mode" and focus on people and group interaction in a goal orientated structured and focused way. I then believe I am able to "read" people quite well. I may over-rate my ability to read people, since there is no way to test my accuracy.

Maybe scores such as mine are skewed by learned adaptive thinking and behavior more than true measurement of asperger traits.

This is a well developed tool and may statisticaly within a certain standard error be an accurate predictor or confirmation of the many traits measured and in total the likelyhood of having Aspergers. But to what extent of accuracy? Who knows really. Judging ones own scores and different weighted levels of test result traits is highly subjective. Although it may feel right on indicates the open endedness of the test. Not saying the test is bad, but that tests are limited and must have enough generalizations to capture and weight in this case many different traits.

Just remember everyone though this is one test and only a tool it may be amazinging accurate for some somewhat accurate for many and miss the mark with others. How one interprets the questions and their own behavior is key here.

I'm diagnosed with Aspergers and don't believe self administered tests no matter how perfect can capture much. It's a good test as good as any multiple choice self administered test is, but everyone must keep this test and others tests and any individual's results in proper perspective.

I took the quiz but haven't gotten an answer. It keeps telling me I have missed matched answers for control questions...

So frustrating.
