Old before my time

Very Often I was told that part of having autism right from childhood is Im old before my time. I was talking about issues that would effect an adult by the age of 8 with grandparents although I refused to talk proper with others and at school. I didn't get my independance till i was 21 but was having conversations that women in there later life was having and my concerns was them of the older generation. Im 25 now and have been in a relationship for 3 years! was anyone else like that?

It did mean that I couldn't socilize with my peer group because they didn't talk about stuff im interested in even now thats the case although it getting better as im growing older!.

when i was 8 - 12 I wanted to know all about God and debate religious matters. I worried about getting old and dying and about having babies. as a teen i isloated myself but with the odd adult i would ask life questions such as the childbirth predure, why they believe in God and what God and what the point of life is and class etc. now im 25 i worry about menopause and I never slept round because I was clued up about STI'S. I have a long term partner and od sleep with him after I went to the hosptial to cheak I was ok! as a teen i wanted to do my voluntary work and didn't really like going out otherwise too. its strange because also i was playing with dolls at 15 as well which is late???

is this usual with asd? or is it that im a woman? or an aspi woman??

If I were you, I'd ask a psychiatrist or a psychologist, preferably one with experience. There are many well meaning people in this site but, like anywhere else, many of those don't know what they're talking about. And it's hard to tell apart those who do know from those who don't if you don't know much about what you're asking about yourself.

I used to talk about Politics, History and Geography. Everybody has different interests.

I used to drive people crazy wanting to talk about God, religion, why we exist, etc. It just drove me crazy that I did not understand any of this. I've learned to temper that and now just study quite a lot on my own.

i would have intelligent, adult discussions with my junior-high-school teachers, which drove the other kids batty.
