Does anyone here feel that with the friends they have; they are held to a higher standard? For example; if an NT friend does something dumb, everyone laughs. If I do something dumb, I get the riot act read to me.

It's very frustrating to be held to a standard of almost perfection.

It is hard for me to tell the difference between acceptable dumb and apparently unacceptable dumb. So I never really quite know if I broached norms or if I'm just near aholes.

It is hard for me to tell the difference between bonding type laughing/ribbing/joking/teasing or if I'm just near aholes.

So, it often feels like a higher standard, I certainly have one for myself, maybe I'm projecting.

Maybe they're nervous about ribbing you because you are better and they're not sure their smart moves wouldn't look dumb vs your dumb moves and it subtly stilts (in a way you can perceive) their 'humor' but, they're trying anyway.

maybe I'm full of it, and you're hanging around ppl that hate you because you cant tell the difference between them and normal ppl.
