Serious benefits Question
HI
I am 38, Aspie, and married to a 41 year old Aspie husband
I have paranoid Schizophrenia and have been claiming disability for 7 years
The need to stop working and studying became apparant after having been hospitlaised due to stress a few times (schizophrenic relapses)
I had been in hospital for 18 months out of 36 before feeling like i resigned myself and getting Disability Living Allowance ( i had not realised i could not do all the things i wanted until then)
then last year i queried Asperger's and was diagnosed Aspie by my psychiatrist. She was behind me having this diagnosis because she had seen me panic about side effects from the medication or various things that I thought were wrong with me to do with other stuff going badly wrong
It explained my life
That was a year ago
I am now looking forward to filling in my next DLA form in a couple of weeks
SERIOUS QUESTION!! !! !!
What are some ways that Asperger's would make it co morbidly or singly more likely for me to need to require the highest possible rate of care and maintain some mobility payment if possible (those 2 are separate)
I really don't know appart from socialising with Collegues - when i have been relatively non psychotic i have had jobs or studies where yes - i was Autistic but don't you just get on with it ??
if you can??
Please can you tell me some examples i can take to this DLA form?
i really am not trying to be stupid - i am 20 years into explaining my schizophrenia compared with a year at best coming to terms with Aspergers
I have never thought of myself as Autistic - it is a very recent discovery age 38
please can you answer with as much detail as you can?
even if it is different for everybody
