I read women can start early as 35 and late as 55 and most women start between 45 and 55 years of age. I haven't started mine yet and I am only 27. When did you start yours?

I don't know when I started perimenopause, but I was fully in menopause at age 56.

Probably started in my late 30's. Last time I had a period, I was 43 - so it's been over for quite a while.

I've heard it will happen about the same age as your mother, but that's not true.I still have periods and my bio mom went thru it about age 40,my ovaries seem to have picked up the pace and now I have regular monthly periods,I never did till I hit 40 and now I'm kicking out eggs like crazy.I went from an average of four or five periods a year to a monthly deal like clockwork. With no sign of slowing down.

I had shots at 48 to supposly end things,,, an artificial menopause, but my body stubborn,, two sets of shots only cut it back to twice a year,, im almost 55 and just had one of my yearly cycles.. so im not fully into menopause yet,, it varies,, but i started showing peri at 38 but never fully went into it.

league girl.if ur not having cycles at 27 and not exercising very heavely,, or are very thin,, go see a dr.... at 27 you should be settled into some kinda normal cycle. Being to thin,, or heavy athelitic training,, and i mean very heavy can stop cycles. as well as very low bodyfat.

I started perimenopause symptoms at 44 in 2005. Periods got wacky, hot flashes and palpitations started, mood swings, etc. I didn't get to celebrate the end of my periods because I had a car accident that caused some heavy bleeding, and led to me having a hysterectomy last November.

I'm not sure of what you're asking. Are you concerned that you may be going into early menopause because of late periods? Or have you at 27 never had a period? Either way you need to see a doctor. Abnormal periods can be caused by lots of things, some relatively benign, others much more serious. A good gynecologist should be able to diagnose what your problem is.

hard to determine...i'm in my 40's and have had "symptoms" for over a decade...then again, i've been on *several* medications during that time that can cause the same "symptoms."

but, based on my mother and my older sister, it should cease totally at age 52....unfortunately, i've got several years to get through first, as my monthly deal is HORRIFICALLY bad (so bad, most women in my situation have uterine ablation surgery).

therefore, i won't be depressed when it stops -- i'll be throwing a damn party!

oh yeah, plus, once i hit that (that sounded wrong, lol), i'll be eligible to "donate" ($$$) my plasma on a weekly basis, as i'm Rh negative (which is rare), and therefore, my blood plasma is very valuable -- for creating the Rh immune-globulin shot for Rh negative moms with Rh positive babies.

speaking of which, is it super weird that a drug is made out of humans, or is it just me?? 8O

Yep, menopause ain't exactly a barrel of monkeys. Before I got there I believed the ads for menopause treatment-- some hot flashes, some vaginal dryness, some moodiness...no big deal. I had no idea how hellish it would be. I thought I was losing my mind at times. Any good sleep is damn near impossible with the night sweats waking me up every hour or so, making me irritable and fatigue all day. And during the day, the hot flashes make me feel like I'm on fire. The heart palpitations, mood swings and anxiety just add to the misery.
