I know it's of general scope but this creates a bunch of random voids among my friends & I. I know I have a lot of eccentricity but I thought that was why people knew me in the first place, I'm unsure of how I feel about the ethics of reacquainting my whole weird self with distant or 'fair weather' friends.

What I mean is that I'm not certain it's acceptable for someone like myself to try and catch up with people I haven't contacted in a while, I know it never works professionally and I'm lost as to how to account for my bizarre personality when I'm trying to stay in contact with people I know I'll miss if I don't. Everyone seems to fall out of touch with me, I can't tell who wants me around anymore...

i know something of how that would feel. you are not the only one here, professionally or no. I can't even rate the professional bit. that lack of the entrepreneurial gene has kept me poor.

Unless they have ignored you in the past, I think it is perfectly OK for you to contact them. If they don't respond back to you, then give it up. Because continuing to try to contact someone who is ignoring you is just stockerish.

Personally I wouldn't try to contact anyone whom I haven't talked to in the last few years. But thats just me. It seems to be common for people on Facebook these days to contact people they haven't talked to since their school days. To me thats just weird. Those people are too far gone from my life. I'd rather meet new people then that.

If you use Facebook, why don't you contact them on there. If not, send them an email or leave them a voice mail. I'd say something like: Hey, whats up? Longtime, no hear. How's everything going? Lets do lunch sometime and catch up.

I just want to ask a short question which has to be answered by a simple yes or no.

Do people ever get the feeling that they are talking with a dictionary instead instead of a human being when they communicate with you?

Or something like: Hey bruddah, what's cooking. Wanna meet up b***h?

Point taken, I practically always have a margin for being more nonchalant. I can't say I remember many people likening me to a dictionary but I see where you're coming from. Do you think my vocabulary constrains the other ends of my conversations?

Done & done! I'm glad to say I'm mostly caught up in this most ambiguous of respects. Now to manifest more spare time near home...
