I was smoking weed one evening and also ended up in the hospital. I thought it was an allergic reaction, or maybe the weed was laced with something, but for all I know it could've been just a panic attack. It never made me hear voices, though. You definitely should let your doctor know that. They'll prescribe you something for it. Hopefully things will get better for you.

Maybe you were misdiagnosed and actually have Schizophrenia. I've never heard of weed having those effects unless it was laced with PCP.

This sounds like a problem you should consult a mental health professional about.

I do remember experiencing anxiety attacks when I quit using marijuana, alcohol, and tobacco. I have never experienced them unless in withdrawal from a substance. However, every person is different, so my experience might not generalize to your experience.

lifelong cannabis user here,
only once have i ever had cannabis cause anxiety and that was after an intentional overdose just to see what would happen. I consumed almost an ounce in an hour between eating cookies, drinking tea, smoking by several means.
I did get an anxiety attack which a couple valiums calmed down.
I would seriously question cannabis being the root cause of this but good you acknowledged the problem and correctly dealt with it.

I should add that combining alcohol and cannabis has an odd synergistic effect. They compound each other when used together and if memory serves is by a factor of 3. In other words one joint and a sixpack is like 3 joints and 3 six packs. The worst vomiting sick drunk of my life was due to this. Lesson learned.

This thread isnt really the proper one for such discussion however I'll leave it at this:
Medical grade covers the whole spectrum. You can get pure Indicas, pure Sativas, and any mix in between. Different strains provide better relief than others depending on what medicinal use you want it for. Any of the better medical cannabis websites will have exhaustive information on this.

Alcohol withdrawal can bring on anxiety.
The combination of the two can also cause problems, from my own personal experience.

I'd say you HAVE to quit, as soon as you can. Please stay in the hospital for a while so that you'll be able to take a supervised break from all substances, and please get some psychological help as well to deal with the withdrawl.

I feel, from personal experience dealing with others who have used substances, that some people can use them safely and others can't at all. Different people react to substances in different ways. Weed can bring on intense paranoia and schizophrenia-like symptoms in a small minority of people. It appears that you may be one of these people.

If they are at the point where they interfere with your sanity and your daily activities, it would be a good idea to stop them.

Awesome! So good to hear. And benzos are highly addictive...I'd say definitely wean off them and go on SSRIs if you can. They are non-addictive and have very minimal side effects.

Precisely this. Some people can smoke weed all day long with no problems and lead a perfectly functional existence. On the other hand, some people become lazy and unmotivated while others have psychotic episodes nearly every time they light up. Like anneurysm said, it appears the OP is one of the latter types of people, in which case (s)he should avoid weed at all costs if (s)he values his/her mental health.

I used to be able to smoke weed every day but it gives me panic attacks nearly every time now. I would just stop smoking if I were you. I used to be a really heavy smoker too, and the anxiety just sort of popped out of the blue! Now it's a constant thing anytime I smoke.

As for the voices thing, def get that checked out, it could be something caused by extreme anxiety. I really hope you feel better!
