The problem is that the reasons which were
given for this forum absolutely apply. I had
no damned idea that there were people
like me anywhere. There was no word
for it. It was obviously not full blown
autism - but I am, and always have
been, barely functional in this world.

I think that if y'all were going to campaign
for this on the grounds of mental maturity,
this forum NEVER would have happened
at all.

So what exactly does a mental maturity of 28 entail? Wouldn't this be an assumption or a stereotype? How can mental age be measured? By How NT's act at that age or what?

I sometimes get tired and annyoyed at being eqivocated to a child. I have been on this planet for over 31 years...I have had all kinds of expreiences...gone through many phases...Have had several jobs and several relationships...first moved away from home at 18...(one of the few rites of passage I was actually able to accomplish)
According to the description of this tribe I guess I don't belong here because I act more like a 15 year old alot of the time....maybe my life has not followed an acceptable sort of chronology...but if it did, I wonld not be spending so much time on wrong planet in the first place.

If I can be as cool as you, Kosmonaut, when I'm your age, I will have achieved something. Hell, if I MAKE it to your age, I'll have really achieved something!

Yeah, if mental maturity was the requirement, I wouldn't be here.

I think I am mature in body only. I have a circus of adolescent clowns in my head, with a freak show added on.

I think if you relate to anything in this forum, join in! I think the title is to let us bodily aged Aspies a place to land and find others our age. The young (and I am meaning twenty or so and younger) have access to services and support we don't and didn't have, so we do have a unique experience, and it's good to talk to each other. I wasn't officially dx until February this year, and I had never heard of it, and I thought I was the only one.

Then I come here, and wow! But at first, I was finding I was posting among people much younger, and there is a different view of the world. I never thought I'd say that, that I wouldn't change, and while I think I'm basically the same person I was, time has added some stuff I can't even begin describing right now. And it's nice to have someone get my stupid jokes...

Don't worry about the age description--all are welcome.

Metta, Rjaye

I wasn't worrying about it, but i thought it was strange wording in the forum description. I wondered how old i would have to get before i reached mental maturity of 28, and doubted that there are many members that old. (Maybe paolo.)
I would consider myself early 20s, but many who know me may say younger. I don't know.

It is annoying that it is considered a developmental disorder. I've lived independently since 18, had a few jobs, i am well domesticated and of no need of assistance from anybody.
Yet some people may think i still act like a teenager. Maybe it is true, or just a way of estabilishing superiority.
