Stairway To Heaven.

I love those drum-breaks and guitar riffs at the end of the song. It must have been awesome to see live with John Bonham beating that drum kit to rubble

When the levee breaks.

Moby Dick.

Can't believe I'm the first one to mention it...

"When the Levee Breaks" and "Kashmir" have been mentioned already, so I'll add:
The Rain Song
But as with many other people, it depends on the mood. LZ is one of my all-time favourites, even better than Beatles.

Tangerine or Going to California
Why isn't this in the music section?

"Over The Hills and Far Away," "The Rain Song," or "Kashmir." I strongly prefer Houses of the Holy/Physical Graffiti era Zep.

Ah Zep ! ! My father brought Zep 1 about the time it came out so I was less than 12 months old and therefore have no cognitive memory of a Zep free life. I've never tired of them despite being nearly 40 and Zep 1 was the first CD I bought when the medium became available.

So, a favourite song would be "The Rain Song". Not far behind would be "Nobody's Fault But Mine", "What Is And What Should Never Be", "Bron-Yr-Aur", "No Quarter", "The Battle Of Evermore" and "Celebration Day".

The funniest reference might be in the Simpsons when Homer says Jimmy Page was the greatest ripper-offerer of American music ever. This could be true ! !

The Lemon Song = Chester Burnett's "Killing Floor" & Robert Johnson's "Travelling Riverside Blues"

In My Time Of Dying = Blind Willie Johnson's "Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed"

When The Levee Breaks (Joe McCoy), You Shook Me (Willie Dixon), I Can't Quit You Baby (Dixon again), Bring It On Home (Sonny Boy Williamson), Gallows Pole (Leadbelly) and Nobody's Fault But Mine (Willie Johnson again) are all direct cover songs.

I've seen and heard so much live music (you get that being a musician ! ! lol) and I've never heard a band so good live as Led Zeppelin - as telepathic and uncanny a group as you will ever hear. To have seen them live would have been something else ! !!

While Jethro Tull, Blind Willie McTell & 1920s pop music are currently my 'flavours of the month" Zep would be my all time fave without any doubt.

Yea, choosing one Zep song is impossible. Jimmy Page is the reason why I picked up the guitar when I was 8. I spent hours upon hours learning the entire Led Zeppelin "complete" (first 5 albums) sheetmusic by the time I was 13. (I was much cooler in high school than I am now because of my ability to play Heartbreaker.)

I'd like to hear the Dylan version of it.

I've just been reading about the song, it was written in 1929! 8O I had no idea it was that old.
