This past week or so, I've had a particularly difficult time functioning from day-to-day. When I reach a point that I'm just tired of thinking about everything going on in my head, I retreat to the couch sometimes just to make it stop for awhile. Does anyone else find themselves doing this?

I sleep to avoid myself. I spend the rest of the time on the computer or at work, then... when I can't take it anymore, I go to bed and sleep.

Yes, I sleep a lot to escape.

But I also feel fatigued so I can't tell if I'm escaping or just have problems with fatigue. It can get in the way of many things.

My escape is surfing the web, I wish I could just sleep without having to take sleeping pills :(

I've had intermittent problems with insomnia over the years. Best "cure" I've found is to keep a regular exercise routine. Kinda fell apart when the weather got ridiculously hot this summer, but I'm trying to motivate myself to pick it up again, if only to stop myself from going to sleep at 3:30am.

Exercise, yeah... I admit I haven't been great as far as that goes, but its time, definitely time to get back to that. I did notice when I was working out more I slept better. Why do I stop? Just got lazy.. no more excuses. But I never go to bed at 3:30am anymore... unless some external influence has caused me to do so (ie sick kid, fight with husband.. you get the idea!)

I know when my medications not working, cos that's when I do exactly that - sleep, sleep sleep your worries away - all day, every day... I think it's a symptom of depression.

I avoid myself by delving into whatever nonsensical dead-end I can find browsing the web. The only instance where sleep allows me some measure of evasion is when I'm seriously depressed and I'm exhausted after hours of nonstop weeping.
