I was enjoying that thread. Don't know what happened to it.

You didn't seem to be enjoying it. Why would you enjoy such a combative thread?

?

I created a second 'nutjobs' thread in the mature forum to get away from juvenile trolls. Last time I saw it it was civil and interesting. The last post I saw was from Sedaka, and it was slightly 'bait', but eh no, it was an interesting discussion by mature adults generally.

I thought you were talking about the original.

Enough. I don't want to see any more of a fracas.

No. I have no idea. I don't want to hear from you again. This part of the site is for adults:

In-depth intelligent discussion for the older adults who have been living independently. It's recommended that you have the mental maturity of age 28 or older. Physical age is irrelevant as some people never grow up. Topics vary and are not limited to life issues.

I am an adult and have been acting quite a bit more mature then you have - I feel sorry for you because you can't see that.

Is this a private argument or can anyone join? :)

So...this thread is a spin-off from a thread that caused an argument? OK, why not go back to square one and have a calm discussion about the original topic, in this forum.

I've seen a few posts lately by long-term members who feel that the site has changed and become more aggressive, and that some members feel they have been bullied - there's some in the Haven:-

http://www.wrongplanet.net/modules.php? ... 95#1177095

I've not been around much lately so can't really judge the feel of this place any more.

Anyone else feel that this place has changed? I think it's important to keep reiterating that it is a support site, and not a general free-for-all, but the question of freedom to speak your mind vs the right of members not to feel bullied (by others speaking their minds in what can sometimes be a very strong way) must be difficult to balance. Not everyone here acts in a mature way all the time of course, because you can't expect kids to behave like adults. Sometimes adults don't behave like adults, lol.

'ello Starr ! !
I posted that as of late, things have taken a bit of a turn for the worse. But this has happened before, and the troublemakers seem to tire quickly and move on, while us oldsters hang around. Seems like the young'uns have lost any sense of what is polite discourse, along with spelling and grammer (! !)

Yes, someone else suggested that becoming a pay site might filter out the undesirables. I know that can present it's own problems but the fact that it's free makes it a free for all.

Depends largely on the goodwill of who's running it, too.

Postperson, you do realize, of course, that nothing in the Terms of Service for this site, nor in the standard rules of netiquette, requires that you respond to someone you feel has "dissed" you. You can, should you wish to actually exemplify adulthood, shurg your shoulders and look away from certain people's posts. (Hey, it works for me!)

Face, when you disagree with someone, it is possible to express that disapproval without resorting immediately to personal attack or ad hominem argument. If you fear someone will be disruptive, you can express your fear calmly - or, again, you can choose the mature path, and ignore them.

Ana, I know you identify as an International Incident Instigator, but you really don't have to try to live up to your WP title.

And to all of you: flame or not, as you wish, as I plan to follow my own advice, and thus won't be back to this thread again... :salut:
