The problem with Tepper Singer's comment in the comment, to me, was that she contemplated about it. I'll admit that sometimes I think bad thoughts sometimes about people I don't like, but I don't sit down for 15 minutes considering it an option. In fact, I heard a story about how she was concerned about how that comment might be taken out of context, and Autism Speaks kept it in the video over her objections.
And yes, Tepper Singer "resigned" from Autism Speaks b/c she stood on the side that vaccines don't cause autism.
Autism Speaks gets money from putting autistic people in such a negative light that anyone who genuinely wants to help autistic people gets pulled in by the heartstrings. Also, I understand that there are some people who want to be cured here and that's fine, and there needs to be more support for families with severely autistic children. If I was diagnosed early, I wouldn't have been a guinea pig, taking medications that put me in the ER and almost killed me once. One medication I took was later found out to be no better than a placebo, and I was institutionalized for a short period b/c my doctors diagnosed me with paranoid schizophrenia based on the way I answered my questions w/o analyzing them much. But if Autism Speaks finds a cure for something that is genetic, based on their rhetoric, they'll want everybody to be cured no matter what their objection is to it. That's my problem with Autism Speaks.
