I personally think (both for the r-word and the n-word) if groups don't want those outside the group to use it, they shouldn't use it themselves either. I remember a few months ago when Rush Limbaugh (who is white and frequently uses the N-Word in his radio sho) was considering buying the St. Louis Rams, Phil Mushnick (who for what it's worth is white) of the New York Post wrote a column in which he agreed with people's statements that nobody who uses the n-word that casually should own a professional sports franchise. He said that nobody who frequently makes profanity-laced statements that contain multiple uses of the n-word should have a stake in a team. He then went on to say that such an owner already exists, and that it is partial owner of the New Jersey Nets, Jay-Z (who is black.) Mushnick then asked why Limbaugh can't own a team and use the word but Jay-Z can. And he's got a point. I'm not going to call a black person by the n-word because two wrongs don't make a right, but the fact is, if they don't like the word, they shouldn't be using it themselves. Same with the r-word. So I completely disagree with your statement.
