Biggotry would be a problem, but think right now we have enough citizenry thinking that we need a new kind of president, one like the one Obama only claimed to be (to be fair, he hasn't really done such a bad job) with all his campaigning for CHANGE. I think a canditate who is willing to to tell literally the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth and not ignore issues, make false promises, or knowtow to interest groups is just what the political system needs.

This country has developed an expectation that the government is either uncaring, incompetant, or treacherous. So it stands to reason that a straightforward, blunt, stubborn president would be a good thing.

Europeans envy your situation. We don't have a federal government and look the results. :p

Seriously, in the American system an aspie don't stand a chance. In European (EU) politics however it can be done i think. Look at Van Rompoy and Barosso.

And they have to make anyway in order to get more votes. People should just realize that a lot being said during a campaign are to get votes. And will most likely end up being dropped in order to get some of their promised policies done. Because in order to get part of it done one has to make comprises with people who also want other things get done.

I guess that changes are greater for a hereditary head of state that happens to be on the spectrum, then an elected one. It does allow for people, who personality wise, would have been unelectable to gain such stations.
