They can invent reasons like "insufficient performance," "not being a team player," or whatever else. Note that I did not say CNN will fire him, but that it is within the realm of possibility.

If he's cut his way to being an assignment editor for CNN, he'll find something decent even if they can him.

If he's half as smart as he should be for that job, he figured he'd be alright no mater what.

I'd like to know where the thought of CNN firing him is coming from. He wrote the article. It was approved for publishing by CNN. There it is, still published.

Why would they fire him? And why would anyone suddenly bring it up even if it is just a supposed possibility? The whole subject matter seems, I don't know, oddly off topic speculation. For what purpose?
