I bet that soon we're going to read that some nutballs put their kids in scalding baths to "cure" their autism.

Speaking from my point of view, I can't stand water spraying on my face (makes me feel like I'm drowning), so I always take baths. So maybe there is something to this concept that the original authors totally missed.

In addition to relieving stress, it probably eases the symptom consisting of bad hygiene.

Alternatively, as the number of cure articles grows large, the probability of any particular cure article containing an actual cure approaches zero.

In my opinion the only cure or therapy for autism is opportunity to participate in the world, basically having a job and living independently.

I actually have hot water cravings sometimes. I can't resist the sound of very warm water tumbling out of the tub faucet. I want to be in it. Too bad it wastes water to just sit there like that for a long time.

Edit: Well, I could resist it but it feels painful emotionally somehow to resist it.

I'm disgusted with the replies of people still believing vaccines cause autism. Have they ever seen a child drown in their own mucus from whooping cough? Well thanks to the ignorance of parents more and more doctors are seeing children DIE from that, and more.

Taking hot baths makes me sleepy. Then all I want afterwards to do is take a nap or go to bed, which is why I normally bathe in the evening. The whole article is yet another piece of trash. I hate this world. HATE. IT.

So basically people are stupid and think something mysterious and medical is going on with autism, forgetting about cognition, when it's really just autistic people are calmed by the same things as other people.

Zero times anything is still zero.

I'm sold on the bubble bath.
I'll pass on the parasitic worms, thanks.

Have they investigated the therapeutic qualities of chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne along with the bubble bath? I'd volunteer for a study for that!

(goes to figure out how "Dom Perignon" can be a medical tax deduction)

Freaking necro post from 2013, I bet the article in the OP isen't even on yahoo.com anymore.

To the person responsible why did you dig up a 2 year old thread and how?

If it's not on Yahoo! anymore, that's all the more of a reason for me to appreciate that someone bumped up this thread, so I learned of this news, no matter how old. I don't know how it matters whether the OP is still here or not---we can still discuss the topic either way.

Never say never. I just have seen so many things happen that I thought were utterly impossible that I can't dismiss the possibility however small of anything happening.

I am less worried about a genectic discorvery leading to widespread abortions at the moment or a magic pill then behavioiral intervention at a very young age designed to intercept or deflect autism at an age when then brain is first wiring itself. This not only may cause unforeseen side effects in autistics but will because it is damm early result in false diagnoses of NT's as autistics and who knows what unintended consequences for them.
