Strange that Jaxom hasn't responded further. The only posts that he's made were the 6 ones in this thread.

I wouldn't be surprised if he turned out to be a shill for an employee of Autism Speaks.

What do you mean? I doubt that because he wasn't even talking about autism speaks. His posts were about Kathy Marshack and her supposed "support" group for husbands and wives of Aspies. I'm opposed to and dislike Marshack and her group as much as he is. Since, here group is closed to anyone not on the spectrum, I'm pretty interested to know what goes on in it.

Imho, there seems to be some convergence between the 'curebie' attitude of Autism Speaks, and the "Aspies are a burden" attitude of the Marshack group.

If he supported them, then he wouldn't be telling us about what was going on in their group. Marshack's group is closed to those of us on the spectrum because she doesn't want us to know what they discuss behind closed doors.

I think it's good they keep it private, it's a safe place for them to talk about their hurt and comfort and get support from each other without offending anyone and you did suggest (or was that someone else?) that ASPartners should have their group closed from the public so people won't get the wrong information about AS when they look up AS and relationships for advice and get the wrong idea.

The folks at Autism Speaks don't ever say stuff like that (that we're more likely to be murderers, that we ruin marriages, etc).

Sorry for not replying. Some stuff has been going on. I've actually been here a while. Just trying to not let Kathy find out who I am. She has a history of bringing people to court who get in her way. I think what she's doing is really unethical (obviously has conflict of interest in her role as a psychologist too) and hoped to get the information out there about what she is doing.

Not sure why exposing her would make me an ally of Autism Speaks. I don't know if she has a relation to them though.

The conference was nothing worse than what she has said elsewhere. She made fun of one of her autistic clients (but at least didn't give out the name) and made various little jabs about autistics being slow at understanding things. Lots of references to the lack of empathy making them bad friends/partners. It's hard to stomach and makes me feel sick and kind of depressed.

So that's about it.

The earliest teleconference is from February of 2014 though the meetup group was started in April of 2009.

Have you ever gone to any of the meet up groups pretending to be NT?

I'm not surprised that she would do that. I did a background search on her and found some juicy information about her (including the fact that her daughter has aspergers and is apparently estranged from her). Otherwise if it worries you, you can always post in "Members Only" where nobody can read unless they are a WP member.

Don't worry about that. I thought that was illogical reasoning. I'm actually glad that you're doing this.

That sounds like some of the things she said in the previous teleconferences she posted. How long before they appear online?

Do you know if her daughter is grown?

There is the link to the last teleconference.

I haven't had a chance to go to the in-person conferences but I will if I can.
