In the current PC culture of victimhood, if we're a minority, then we have rights and a voice. People will care, people will rally for us, we'll be something worth fighting for. It will be OK to be us.

If we're not, then we're just "broken normal people who need to be fixed." If we're not a demographic minority, then we're just a disease.

That's sick, and sad, and disgusting...

...but it's also kinda TRUE.

Because we are not the majority. and for the same reasons other discriminated groups do.

Why is that?

Its not a choice that there are more people who aren't autistic than those who are thus making autistic people in the minority...that's just a fact.

Autistic people are a minority and should be regarded as such.

Well the whole world isn't autistic so maybe that does consider us as being a minority. I know just being black generally tags me as being a minority but technically being autistic might would tag me as such too.

Same here. I see any attempt to gain 'minority' status for a disability as a thinly-veiled attempt to gain the special privileges accorded to real minorities -- preferences in education, hiring and housing, for example.

I also believe that a small group of 'Special Snowflakes' is trying to create a 'Safe Space' for themselves where they could be free from any form of criticism or legal action for 'Acting Out' against whatever they don't like.
