I really hate how big organizations and companies can bully people into submission by hiring lawyers and using lawsuits to get what they want. I think the reason Autism Speaks sued was to get rid of the site. They got what they wanted. That sucks. I would have liked to see the NT Speaks website.

That's disgusting... but absolute media gold. I really hope it gets out - I'd do something about it here in the UK but Autism Speaks is virtually unheard of here as far as I'm aware (in the 'real world' I mean, people obviously know of it online). Perfect opportunity they've given to autistics everywhere on a plate... how stupid can they get?!

Autism Speaks took over ntspeaks.org

But Aspies For Freedom has bought two domains and put the site back up.

They promise to openly ridicule and mock Autism Speaks if another lawsuit is threatened.

If you read the third page it was already resolved. When they found out that the guy was just a teenager they dropped all charges on him.

Thing is, the whole shebang got Farked, so it spun out of anyone's control. The Fark person put up a fake headline that said "Autistic Child Gets Sued by Autism Speaks For Actually Speaking Up" XD

It's pathetic that parody is protected by the principle of Fair Use yet the Trademark/Intellectual Property Nazis still go after it.

Though I pointed out that Bob Wright is no longer affiliated with NBC.

Which is a bit like saying that Bush the First has no power, because he's not president any more. If this Wright fella was once a co-owner of NBC and their corporate master, GE, then what he says - about pretty much anything - will still have influence over what comes up on NBC, because so many of its execs are old friends of his, and/or owe him something.

So it still explains a lot...

Thanks for the links. Hard to believe Autism Speaks lost 1 million supporters over that one page of information. I'm glad Aspies for Freedom put the content back up.
